I don’t know if this location is a tax collector’s office or a poorly run, overcrowded urgent care, but that’s exactly what it feels like. Telling me to buy and try up to 10 different data cables from Best Buy to fix a glitching CarPlay issue, one that’s well-known and thoroughly documented in Kia Reddit forums, is lazy and unacceptable. Instead of acknowledging a known issue, you pushed the responsibility onto the customer. That’s not service. What should have occurred and been communicated: * Verify the infotainment system is running the latest firmware available for my VIN. * Scan the infotainment/AVN system for any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). * Inspect and test the USB media hub (USB-A port) for intermittent data connection issues. * Inspect the USB wiring harness and connectors between the USB media hub and the infotainment unit for loose connections, damaged pins, corrosion, or poor terminal retention. * Perform a wiggle test of the USB port and wiring harness while CarPlay/Android Auto is connected to identify intermittent faults. * Verify both USB power and data integrity. * If the USB hub and wiring pass inspection, evaluate the infotainment head unit/USB controller for intermittent failure. * If additional guidance is needed, please consult Kia Techline before replacing parts.
