Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to look into this. I had a chance to pull your work orders. It looks like the Shop Foreman had originally performed your 60K mile service. This Technician has been with Subaru for about 20 years and is typically spot on with not missing items so it's hard for me to be able to say with any certainty if the valve cover gasket (which was leaking, not missing) was beginning to leak at that visit and was missed or if it began leaking during that couple of week period between when the service was performed and the burning oil smell began. That said, I am glad to see that service was able to have this repair performed for you at no charge and I agree that this was the right thing to do given the circumstances. It is certainly an unusual situation that we don't normally see especially given the number of vehicles we service daily.
