I live in Alaska and was looking for a very specific RAV4: all-wheel drive, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and no moonroof. Those options are surprisingly hard to find, especially when you’re looking for a vehicle in Alaska. On Monday, I went to four different Toyota dealerships looking for the right car. I couldn’t find what I wanted. I did find a RAV4 at Gladstone Toyota, but it was two-wheel drive and didn’t have all the options I was looking for. As I was leaving the lot, a gentleman named Casey stopped me and asked what I was looking for. I explained exactly what I wanted and told him that if he could find one, I would buy it that day. He asked me how long he had to find it, and I told him, “You have until Friday. I fly back to Alaska on Saturday.” Casey and I exchanged contact information and texted back and forth during the week. Then Friday afternoon, around 5:00, I got a text from him: “Hey, I found your car.” I told him I was on my way. Casey had a family obligation and couldn’t stay, but he arranged for Dusty to take care of me. I got there around 6:30, and Dusty already had the RAV4 ready for a test drive. We took it out, came back, and closed the deal. Then, because apparently buying a car wasn’t enough excitement for one evening, we discovered that my Alaska driver’s license had expired. I had to fly back to Alaska on Saturday to renew it, fly back to Oregon on Sunday, and then start the drive home. Monday morning, we headed north. We drove 3,300 miles, including one incredible 18-hour stretch. The RAV4 averaged 43 MPG overall, with one tank reaching 51 MPG. We covered 1,062 miles in 18 hours. I was incredibly impressed with the car, especially Toyota’s new adaptive cruise control. It made a long drive like that dramatically easier and more comfortable. This is my third RAV4, and I also own a Toyota 4Runner. I trust these vehicles enough that we gave my last RAV4 to our daughter to take to college. The whole experience with Casey and Dusty was outstanding. They were straightforward, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care about getting me into the right vehicle rather than just selling me whatever happened to be sitting on the lot. I would absolutely travel all the way from Alaska to Oregon again to buy another vehicle from Casey and Dusty at Gladstone Toyota. Their service was incredible, and I truly believe they care about their customers. If you’re looking for a Toyota, I highly recommend Gladstone Toyota. Casey and Dusty went above and beyond. More
