Visit, view, be impressed by the product - which sells itself, then be impressed by the entire shopping experience, I know I was!
I’ve owned a Honda Civic and several Accords - I’ve also purchased and assisted others in purchasing other brand vehicles across the years, so I’m “more than familiar” with the vehicle purchasing process.
Over the past several weekends, I’ve actually visited five Honda dealerships - from my home area in Wake Forest, all the way out to Charlotte.
My Hendrick Honda sales person was Marcus Covington, who blew me away on his in-depth knowledge of vehicle options as we walked past a line of cars on the lot, until we reached the one I came to see. When we did reach the car I was there to view, I instantly knew this was the vehicle for me, a fully loaded Accord Hybrid Touring model, in urban gray pearl (looks like a base coat of gold underneath the gray - absolutely beautiful)!
I let Marcus walk me around the car, describing its’ features, as he opened every door - including the fuel door. Then Marcus said, “Would you like to go for a ride?” Of course I was ready, but what I wasn’t ready for was him to hop in the driver seat and drive the vehicle. I figured I’d have my chance at some point, but why not let him describe the vehicle to me as he drove it, which actually turned out to be a much more comfortable learning experience.
We got about halfway out on the test drive when Marcus pulled into a parking lot and said, “OK let’s switch seats.” By that point, Marcus had gone through bunch of info on the cars features, so I could enjoy my driving experience that much more. I highly recommend a test drive being performed in this manner and will always do it this way going forward in the future.
By the time we got back to the dealership, I knew this was the vehicle I had been searching for.
When it came to the actual “desk work,“ yes, there’s going to be times when your sales person will need to break away to consult with another dealer representative - it’s inherent in the business. But what wasn’t expected, was a no-pressure environment, from everyone I associated with, to include my sales rep, their supervisor, and the final contract person who worked with me on an extended warranty. Everyone acted like a friend I hadn’t seen in a while.
Although the Hendrick Honda offered to deliver the vehicle to me in a few days - all the way out in Wake Forest, I decided to drive a block over from Hendrix Honda and rent a one-way trailer from U-Haul and bring it home with me the same day - and those people were just as nice!
So, as I said, in the beginning here, visit, view, be impressed by the product - which sells itself, then be impressed by the entire shopping experience!
