Very Disappointing Car Buying Experience I've purchased 30 plus cars over my lifetime for myself and various family members and I can say without question this was the worst car buying experi I've purchased 30 plus cars over my lifetime for myself and various family members and I can say without question this was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. I generally only write positive reviews for customer service experiences that I have had. I totally understand that things sometimes don't go as planned and I usually just keep that to myself. Unfortunately this experience was just that bad. The most frustrating thing about my purchae and the main reason that I feel the need to write this review is the fact that when things started to go really wrong and I wasn't getting any answers I asked to speak with the top person in charge which is generally the owner. The only people that I was ever able to speak with was the finance manager and the sales manager at the VW dealership. I wanted to speak with somebody higher up then them (David and Josh) but they would never get me to that person. I asked for the owner, the person that writes their checks, I asked to speak with Dave Walter himself and I was told flat out no. I'm not from Akron, I came up from out of town to buy a car from this dealership so I couldn't just stop by anytime. I had to communicate by phone, text or e-mail. Not being able to voice my concerns or speak to THE top person in charge is just not acceptable. From the start this buying experience was not good. I called ahead to schedule a time to look at the car I was interested in. When I got there they triggered the security system and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. When they finally got that figured out the car wouldn't start and they determined that the battery was bad. They then had to go purchase a new battery, bring it back and install it. By the time I was finally able to drive the car it had been about an hour and a half to two hours of me waiting around. I was looking at this car for my son so I did not make the purchase that day. After some conversation with Tom our sales associate we decided we wanted to purchase the car. When I let Tom know we'd be up later in the evening after my son got off of work he called back and asked if we could come up earlier because he stated the finance manager was heading out of town after work and wanted to get out early. I told him we'd be up as soon as we could after my son got off of work. I picked up my son from work, flew up there as fast as I could only to wait about an hour or more until they were done with the customer already there. The next day I realized that there was an issue with the title. I called up right away and my son and I went back up and made the corrections. We signed the new paperwork and all was good, or so we thought. When I got the memorandum title in the mail it was wrong. And this is where everything really went south. It took between 3-4 months to get this all fixed and I basically had to do all of the work to fix the mistake made by the dealership. Every time I thought it was fixed there was another hurdle in the way. It was a very frustrating and exhausting experience. In closing my biggest problem during my buying experience was the fact that I was not from Akron, I could not just stop by the dealership at any time and as much as I asked I could NEVER speak with THE top person in charge of this dealership. Ad stated previously, I've purchased enough cars to know that the finance manager and the sales manager are not the top people in charge. Somewhere along the line they answer to somebody else, somebody signs their checks. It would have been nice to talk to that person. This review could have been avoided. More

Absolutely Excellent! I used to work for a bank and dealt with many dealers but there is one dealer that I keep coming back to. That is Dave Walter VW. I love them, their values, and the sales and service team. I would refer them to anyone even thinking about purchasing a VW. They really wanted (and did) to help me and did everything in their power to correct a wrong that was made by another dealership. Aaron, Dave, and Gary assisted me through this tough deal and I am forever grateful. As well, the service team (especially Mike) was extremely helpful, courteous, and forthright in diagnosing my trade. If you ever want a dealership that treats a person fair and honest, this is the dealership to go to! More
