Called yesterday to get pricing on an alternator replacement - they said they'd call back and never did. Fast forward, my truck died so I had to towed to ToB. Went in to the dealer this morning and replacement - they said they'd call back and never did. Fast forward, my truck died so I had to towed to ToB. Went in to the dealer this morning and they quoted over $1700 to change an alternator on my 2011 Tundra 5.7 2WD. They stated 5.5 hours of labor. I questioned this as a friend of mine is a master mechanic at an authorized Lexus dealership and he pulled in their system that it should be a 3.0-3.5 hour job tops. I questioned Toyota of Boerne's pricing and they didn't do anything so I left. I get a phone call about two hours later saying they are able to do the job for 4 hours. which is it? It really feels like they are playing games and it really doesn't make sense that, if a job requires 5.5 hours of labor (so they say) how could they do it in 4 hours? It's clear they are trying to rip off customers and I'm sure get away with it often as some folks don't do their homework and trust blindly. When it comes to labor, the time is the time and it's not something that should be objective. This is severely disheartening because my family have bought multiple vehicles from ToB but I don't plan on going back. I know they don't really care about this because they will sell to someone else but I hope they can at least work toward a more honest servicing department. More
