Working with a salesman who's not on commission is EXCELLENT I had the best car-buying experience of my life with Arnel Leyco. 10 minutes on the phone and he gave a me a solid deal---I had done my homework so I I had the best car-buying experience of my life with Arnel Leyco. 10 minutes on the phone and he gave a me a solid deal---I had done my homework so I know, and I am a sophisticated car buyer. . Even though we had just met on the phone, I knew he was giving me as good a deal as he could---A little profit for the company but not too much. I have a Ph.D in psychology and am good at reading people. At least with me, I felt could completely trust him. And when I showed up to pick up the car, it was precisely as described and there was none of the usual salesperson BS--changes (always raising the price). He was efficient, honest, knew exactly how to get through the paperwork quickly. Also, his 20-minute showing me all the car's features were intelligent, concise, and clear. In addition, despite the very good price, I asked for a couple of little adjustments in the car's electronics. (Reducing a beep, for example.) He went to the service dept and they took care of it instantly. Also, I said I hated the white inserts in the Prius---that it makes it look like a urinal. For a fair price, he got the black appliques put on, and quickly. Arnel Leyco is a man who deserves to be a sales manager--training other salespeople. You can make money without being a sleaze. Besides, and this may be irrelevant from a money-making point of view, I liked him. He was a regular guy---intelligent, professional, but very down to earth. As good as he is, I can't help but think that any human being would be tempted by the customer-screwing incentives of being on commission. Congratulations to the management of 101 Toyota for realizing that the short-term profit gain of putting salespeople on commission is dwarfed by the long-time liability. I should also briefly mention Galina Federova. I'll simply say that she is SOOOOH much more intelligent and ethical than the usual F&I high-pressure salesman---those types make me run as fast as I can, not only from his/her office but from that dealership. More

Marcellis was very polite, courteous, patient, mellow and knowledgeable about all the cars he showed us. Working with Marcellis felt like having a kind and knowledgeable friend, just showing you around the car lot. No high pressure, no lies, no tricks to get you to commit to buying. Arnel was very cool too. Again, no high pressure, no lies, no gimmicks or tricks to make you feel anxious like you had to make a decision on the spot. Just kindness, friendliness, helpfulness and even even fun from both of them, all while being very professional and knowledgeable about the cars, trade-in, and financing. They were fair with the trade-in, and gave me the best price they could initially, rather than try to offer me peanuts at first, and make me beg for more, like other dealerships often do. They also did not verbally insult my trade-in car, like often happens when negotiating for a trade-in. It was a highly unusual car buying experience. It is too bad that it is so unusual to come across such competent car sales people. These guys are the BEST! More
