Our experience with John Halsey My daughter and I were looking for a car for her to drive. However, when we arrived we found the car she was interested in was currently being purchased! Oh no! No problem ... John found us another one in better condition and less mileage. After a little more comparison shopping there was no question in my daughter's mind that car was the best selection and John's welcoming approach certainly helped that! Should have gone elsewhere Went to the used car lot next to speedway. Started working with Amelio. But ended up finishing everything with Tom Hayes. It all started out fine, too Went to the used car lot next to speedway. Started working with Amelio. But ended up finishing everything with Tom Hayes. It all started out fine, took about a week for them to get me into a car that met my standards. On the final day i was there, it took them the whole day to get everything done. Had to go with my second choice of car because the salesmen didnt tell me that the hold i paid to have put on the first car i looked at, was only good for 48 hours. Took them two weeks to refund me my money for the hold. Ended up financing for more than i had planned. The APR is outrageous, and they didn't tell me what the monthly payment would be until they had me prepare to sign the papers. I almost walked right out but lucky for me, the payments are within my budget. They said they took 600 of the price, yet the final sales price was almost 2k higher than what i was originally told. The car had issues PRIOR to me getting it and i brought it to their attention. I have an automotive degree, so i know my way around a car. They said they had a technician look at it and took care of it. I dont know what kind of multi-point inspection they did, but the engine air filter was black, there was no cabin air filter, transmission fluid was half a quart low, and was leaking PRIOR to me buying it. They detailed the whole car, so that there were no signs of a oil leak or anything. The car had an aftermarket remote start, and they took it off because it wasn't Ford OEM. They gave me a 3000 mi/3mth warranty. The car is currently in the service department being checked out for a throttle body TSB, the oil leak that was present PRIOR to me getting the car, and the transmission issues it has had since i got it. All of this should be covered by the warranty. But the transmission diagnosis is $100, which i have to pay for due to the deductible that i didnt know about until i took the car to their service department across the street. Steve Woodward and Nathan Wivell are friendly and havent tried to sell me things i know the car doesn't need. Definitely not buying another used car from the used sales department by speedway. My recommendations to the used car sales department next to speedway: - Be more attentive to your customer - Dont treat them like they are stupid - when the customer tells you about issues they noticed a car has that affects the driveability, fix it. - when you offer a warranty, make sure you tell the customer if there is a deductible. - if the customer tells you what their price range is, or their monthly payment preferences are, follow those, dont try and push them towards a high price or payment.
