Purchased my car from Steingold and have brought my car there for services for 5 years. Overall, it has been a great experience, but my last visit was unacceptable. I brought my car in for a check engine there for services for 5 years. Overall, it has been a great experience, but my last visit was unacceptable. I brought my car in for a check engine light and the same issue "evap valve" code came up. Last year I had the same code and it was fixed and covered under the manufacturer warranty, this year it was covered by my extended warranty. I have no problem with paying the deductible since that is what I signed up for, the problem was how they handled the situation. When I first brought my car in for the check engine light I asked if this would cost me anything and I was told no. Then, when the work was done, they said it would cost $100. I said that I specifically asked if this would be free before any work was done. Again, I would be ok with paying the $100 since it was a miscommunication, but Susan Cota got very defensive and showed no customer service in how she handled the situation making sure to prove that she was right saying "nothing is ever free" even though a year ago it was free to me because it was covered under manufacturer warranty. All I was looking for was a little compassion for the situation as I feel I was misled and maybe an apology for the confusion. In the end, I will be taking my service elsewhere and it is sad that this all could have been avoided if a little customer service could have been used from someone who works in the service department. More
