I went to Southern 441 Toyota with a fully paid-off 2023 Prius. Finance Director Vincent DeCapua first put me into a lease. The lease terms were not what was promised and were not fully explained until I requested the documents. I then asked to switch to a traditional loan to get out of the lease. I was told the new monthly payments would be $629, but when the final documents were finally emailed to me, the payment was $10 higher ($639). On the final loan contract the trade-in credit from my owned Prius is listed as N/A. The selling price was only lowered by about $5,440, leaving roughly $8,600 of my trade-in value unaccounted for. They do not give you the final documents when you leave the dealer—they email them much later, so you cannot review the actual terms before you walk out. I ended up with a long, high-interest loan and no clear credit for the car I owned free and clear. The process was confusing and the numbers changed after I signed. More
