Sheehy Honda of Alexandria was worst customer experience I have ever had making a purchase. They had advertised 2 vehicles with a similar price point listed. I called prior to going to the Sheehy to make sure they were available. Even though they said over the phone they were, neither of those vehicles were available when we arrived. This is the point where I should have left and went somewhere else. Since my dad was in a hurry to get into a new car, I decided we would deal with it. The vehicle they had was close to $2,000 more than the ones advertised online. We had the usual high-pressure sales tactics from Abdullah our sales man, including leave a deposit and so on. At that point my dad was pretty in love with the car and wanted to get it as soon as possible. That’s where the real problems started. I’m going to go into some details about what we had to deal with to make this purchase, so you don’t make the same mistake we did. Before I do that, I’m going to give you a summary of the time and effort that was involved on my part in purchasing this vehicle. Outside of the initial sale, I spent 24 hours on the phone or person, 202 miles driven to take care of various issues, 5+ blatant lies about things they were going to do, 24+ calls or trips to a Sheehy dealer, and 3 months to resolve all the initial issues. We purchased the vehicle using a cashier’s check. They informed us that they would need to run hard credit check. While these don’t have a large effect on a credit score, they do have an effect, especially if you’d had a couple of them within two years of the purchase. They didn’t need to do that, but they did. Not only did they run my father’s credit, but they also ran my mom’s credit, just because she was going to be on the title. The vehicle was supposed to be Honda Certified, but when we went to pick it up, it had an ABS code on screen along with a tire pressure warning. When we did finally get the vehicle we took it to another Sheehy location to get inspected. You’d expect a vehicle that was Certified would be able to pass no problem. This one didn’t and I had to take it back to the dealership to have the work done when the part arrived. They somehow got the incorrect part and ended up using an aftermarket part to get the car through inspection. We were told it would have two keys provided. Getting the extra key was a huge part of this process and they had bad information or just lied about it in a few cases. The vehicle wasn’t ready for pickup when it was supposed to be and they finally had to drive it up to my father a day or so later than we were told it would be ready. The communication from the salesperson, Abdullah was atrocious. Any time he said he would call, he either didn’t or he called a few hours later than he said he would. If he had been even slightly competent I could have saved myself hours of phone calls and trips to Sheehy’s dealership. There are a bunch of things I haven’t included in this review to keep it short. The big take away is, don’t purchase from this dealer if you want to have a good experience purchasing your car. The prices are bad, the fees are excessive, and the staff is incompetent. More
