Change tires more quickly on a new car. This is the 7th Subaru that I have purchased, my second at St. J. Other family members have purchased at least 6 Subarus! J upon my recommendation.) The sale of the car was fine, no problems. BUT the service department seemed to be all thumbs when I picked up the car. I was going to keep my snow tires. St J got to keep the new tires that were on the new car. Why does it take 2 hours and 20 minutes for a service department at a dealership to swap tires. That should have taken half an hour. Chayse Jarvis, the salesman, seemed frustrated but the Service Department did not seem to care that I was waiting for 2 hours and 20 minutes. When I agreed to purchase the car, Chayse told me that there would be a $70 charge to swap the tires. Then, after waiting 2 hours and 20 minutes, I was handed a bill for $140, twice what we had agreed on. (Friends have since told me that I should have been given a credit on the new car for the tire exchange.) As I said, my old car now has the NEW tires but nobody seemed to recognize that. My experience has been that some non Subaru parts are sometimes just not very good. For example, the original battery on the Subaru that I just traded had to be replaced at 6435 miles (November 2014) and then that had to be replaced in November 2017-- all wasted time on my part going and coming from the dealer. On the new 2020 car, Subaru does not seem to know what tires it has installed on the car because there are "limited" warranties for both Goodyear and Yokohma tires in the paperwork. (Of course a "limited" warranty is of no value at all.) The solution is to install first class products on the new cars when you sell them. And if that can not be done, then do not make a customer wait 2 hours and 20 minutes for the tires to be changed. That should take no time at all at a dealer as large as St. J. More
