He helped me out with th transaction and saved mucho $$$. HOWWEVER, they failed to properly process the transaction with Hyundai Finance and as a result I got billed for unwarranted charges. My request for assistance from the dealer was ignored and for this I can not forgive them. I went through xxxx getting the problem resolved. More
6 months later, lied to about work done...bad news! Not too long ago I wrote an excellent review about my experience at Rockland Hyundai. When purchasing my vehicle (a pre owned Acura tsx) I was advised to get an expensive extended warranty service plan, but I purchased it because hey, you never know. The vehicle needed an oil change, front tires, and some other minor work done. I was told all proper maintenance was completed. After six months and 2 snow storms later I eneded up buying 4 new tires (of course) because apparently the old tires were just rotated to the back. But then I had to use my extended service plan, and ended up paying $180 for a $70 oil change. Want to know how that happened??? Some part of my engine was making a grinding noise (that I thought was a fan in the front end of my car malfunctioning) and the "change oil" light kept blinking on and off erratically. I took my vehicle to Acura to use the extended warranty and have my vechile repaired. After a $125 diagnostic test ( that was not covered by the plan) the mechanic explained to me that my oil was probably never changed when I purchased the vehicle because it was like sludge in the oil chamber, and was affecting my engine hence the noise it was making. He also informed me that some real engine damage could of happened had I not brought the car in when I did. I felt so angered at that moment. Are there no honest people left in the world??? (That's totally a rhetorical question). I would have appreciated the sales men at Rocklan Hyundai's honesty and a simple " We counldn't do the oil change, just so you know." But instead their lies cost me a lot of money and time wasted. So although Melvin and William were super nice, they lied to me about important info reguarding my purchase, which does not work out well for customers like myself. Even though people make great recommendations about dealers and how they perceived their initial experience, I suggest following up, because I'm sure 6 months later some customers ended up getting bamboozeled like myself. I was advised to get an extended service plan that was expensive, but I purxhased it because hey, you never know. Well upon purchasing my vehicle that was a pre owned Acura tsx, it needed an oil change, front tires and some other minor work done to it. My main complaint is that I was told everything was done after I repeatedly asked to be sure. Came in the next morning and was first told they could not find the keys. The sales guys suggested we look at a Maxima while they located the keys. The Maxima was priced 2 thousand more than the Altima. After test driving the Maxima I flat out asked, "What happened to the Altima?" The sales guy says, he knows it shows its available but he doesn't see the car, it wasn't there. Starting to feel a bit uneasy about the situation I continued the process along with my husband there to see if we could get them to come down on the price. The sales guy says the price he gave me was the internet price and they won't go lower on it. At that point I was irritated and told him that I felt It was a bait and switch and to take that back to his boss. When he returned they took 500 off the asking price. He continued the process and wrote up the sales slip at which point my husband and I noticed a prep fee of 1295.00 and a doc fee of 595.00 dollars. I have purchased two cars in the past and never seen these fees. We asked about the fees and he said all the dealers charge prep fees and doc fee was NY state mandated and the prep fee was not optional. My husband promptly gets up and starts calling the Honda dealership to inquire about the fees. Mean while this sales guy tells me that if I was not approved for the Maxima that his boss will be able to put me in a brand new Hyundai 2015. What was this guy talking about, how could I not be approved for the Maxima but would be able to walk out with a new Hyundai? Not to mention, my husband and I have no interest in driving a Hyundai. We came for a Nissan, specifically for a Altima that mysterious disappeared. Now you are going to try to push the Hyundai vehicle on us to boost your monthly goals. Well everything went south after my husband got off the phone with the Honda dealership and was told they don't have a prep fee and that there doc fee is 75 dollars. At which point my husband and I where both pissed and let it be known and then was told that they didn't want to deal any more, most likely because my husband was loudly expressing how they were trying to rip us off. We found out the truth about the fees when we left and went to the Nissan dealership. Yes the doc fee is NY mandated but the cap is 75 dollars, not 595 dollars as they were trying to charge us. And that Prep fee, the sales guy at the Nissan dealership told us that sadly he has seen dealers at other dealerships charge up to 3000.00 for the prep fees. Some states don't regulate it. But you should know its the dealers who set that price. Like I said earlier Honda said that they don't charge that fee. At the Nissan dealership they charge 495, but waved that fee without hesitation when I asked. So the only fee I had was the 75 dollar doc fee. In total Hyundai wanted to charge me 1890.00 in fees. I left the Nissan dealership paying just 75 dollars in fees and the car that I wanted at a price I wanted because they also took a additional 1000.00 off the asking price. I did not write this because I want some generic response from Rockland Hyundai customer service team. Matter of fact, they need not respond because I am happy with my ending and this was a learning experience. I WROTE THIS FOR THOSE WHO WORK HARD FOR THERE MONEY AND EXPECT TRANSPARENCY WHEN MAKING BIG PURCHASES. Know what you want, do your research, always ask questions, negotiate( you would negotiate a job offer and a house purchase, why should the asking price for a car not be negotiable?) and pay attention to the documentation. Good Luck.. More

I must say, what a delight to be sold my car by an intelligent, friendly, knowledgeable and funny sales person. He went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable and kept me "in the loop" every step of the process. My car was clean, shiny and presentable when I walked out to it and I know Mr Arias ensured that. You have a top notch employee with Edwyn Arias. I would definitely recommend all family and friends to him on their next car purchase. Im 100% happy with my car buying experience because of him. More

I am I have to admit that this was our first experience buying a pre-owned vehicle from a dealership, so we were a bit skeptical...but not to worry. I am happy to say that our sales associate Joan Rivas and store manager Tristan George went out of their way to make purchasing a car from Rockland Hyundai a smooth process. They worked with us to find the best car for our daughter and which would also fit our budget. They were both very patient with our questions and found solutions to our concerns. We are now the proud owners of a beautiful Hyundai! More

I felt that their approach was pretty transparent and after driving my new car off the lot, I feel satisfied with the deal and the service. In past experiences with dealerships, the staff have been intentionally misleading and confusing, and this was simply not the case with Rockland Hyundai. Joan and Lisa were straightforward and helpful. I would definitely recommend this dealership. More
