Dear Mr. Gare, First and foremost, I want to apologize that you were anything less than satisfied with your visit at our dealership. Even if a customer walks away without purchasing a vehicle we always want them to feel as though their experience was enjoyable. So I apologize that your experience left you dissatisfied. Your review concerned me deeply because I would never want anyone to be treated rudely or disrespectfully, not my employees and certainly not my customers. It is at the core of our business philosophy that every customer be treated as we would treat our own mother and father so I don’t take it lightly if an employee is rude to a customer. As such I personally researched this matter and here’s what I found. On Friday 3/18 at 10:23am you sent an email inquiry through our website regarding the Sonata Limited 2.0 Turbo and in your email you asked how flexible the price was because you wanted to pay $16,500 for it. That was $2,000 less than our online price of $18,493 At 10:54am that same day, our Business Development Center responded to you via email that the prices online were pretty aggressive but that you could certainly come in and negotiate although he wasn’t quite sure if you could get it at that price. At 11:39am that day you responded that you were helping a relative because you worked at dealers for 30 years and that your relatives would be in the following day to look at the car and that you may join them. On Saturday 3/19 at 12:39pm you visited our showroom with your relatives and spoke with Ben regarding the Sonata Limited 2.0 Turbo and told him you wanted to pay $16,500 for it. Ben explained that our prices are very aggressive and that although there was a little room in the price we would only be able to move hundreds not thousands of dollars. You informed Ben that you worked for dealerships for 30 years and you knew how this worked and that there was a lot of room in used cars. Ben explained to you that although that is how it may have been years ago the internet has made used cars much more aggressively priced and profit margins are no longer what they used to be. Ben’s manager, Bill also spoke with you and attempted to explain how we price our preowned cars. I apologize if you feel as though he was rude to you, I certainly take customer satisfaction and the manner in which my staff interacts with my customers very seriously. We have surveillance cameras in the showroom and I reviewed the tape to determine what happened. The tape, however, did not show Bill acting rudely in the manner you described so I can only assume that you may have perceived things differently because you were upset we were not able to sell your relative the car at $2,000 below our asking price. You see Mr. Gare, part of our promise to our customers is that we offer a quality vehicle at a great price and we use technology to scour the internet to see what similar vehicles are selling for at other retail establishments. This particular vehicle was the only vehicle in a 200 mile radius with low miles (8,700) with all the options listed and we priced it aggressively and lower than the other vehicles. The next closest vehicle had over 20,000 miles and was slightly more money than our vehicle, everything else had over 30,000 miles on it. In fact, right now there is no other vehicle out there similar to ours. There is only 1 other vehicle that comes close in similarity to ours and it is a 2015 Sonata Limited 2.0 Turbo with slightly less miles at 4,494 and it is listed for $26,988 over $8,000 more than ours. Because our vehicle was so aggressively priced and there was nothing else exactly like it on the market it sold 5 days after you came in at the internet price. I certainly understand your desire to help ensure your relatives get a great deal especially since you’ve worked in the parts department at dealerships for over 30 years. It is certainly noble of you to do that for your relatives. I know your relatives really wanted this vehicle and it was being offered at a great price; it’s unfortunate it didn’t work out but I am sure you will help them find another vehicle they will love even more at a price they would like to pay.
