Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Harvey responded

Hi Nikki - We apologize for the misunderstanding regarding your trade-in and the lease agreement on your new vehicle. The lease process can be very confusing, especially when there’s a mistake in the paperwork. When you leave the dealership with your new vehicle, the last thing you want to hear is that there’s an issue with your agreement that needs to be corrected! We understand your frustration, and apologize that the error in the finance agreement occurred. The original lease agreement had an error in the calculation of the residual value for your new vehicle, and we didn’t catch that when we originally submitted your lease agreement. The leasing company caught the error and refused to release funds to the dealership to pay for your new vehicle, until they received a new lease agreement with the correct residual value. In order for the dealership to have the funds to pay the “I owe you” on your trade, we needed to receive payment from the leasing company, and to do that, we needed to amend the lease agreement with the correct residual value. Unfortunately, we weren't able to correct the documentation without asking for your signature on the new paperwork that restructured your lease. The corrected residual value actually reduced the monthly lease payment on your new vehicle, so we certainly weren’t trying to con you in any way. Our general manager, Mike Canales, was available to explain why the new agreement was necessary to complete your lease and issue your trade check as soon as possible. We were trying to help you save some money on your deal, but it sounds like we weren’t on the same page about the changes to the lease agreement. It’s clear this led to serious frustration for you, and we apologize for that. Customers often don’t trust car dealerships to be transparent in their sales and financing process, so we understand how having us ask to amend your lease agreement would raise suspicion. In no way would any staff member at Ray Brandt Chrysler Dodge Jeep take advantage of a customer for our financial gain. If the lease change had resulted in an increase to your lease payments, we would have worked with you to honor the deal you originally signed. In this situation, the lease change actually lowered your monthly payments, which should have been good news. It sounds like we didn’t communicate that clearly from the onset, and we apologize for the confusion. Our goal is for every customer to leave our dealership happy and with a complete understanding of the terms of their vehicle lease or purchase. Please reach out to us if you have any other questions or concerns about the changes to your lease agreement.
