I also researched car dealer scams and tips on how not to be "taken for a ride". My initial contact at Pohanka was Internet Manager Bryan Cuthbert. He answered all of my questions and stayed in contact without being aggressive. He arranged my appointment with Kent Smith. I was prepared for a hardsell with lots of wheeling and dealing. Instead Kent Smith was straightforward, low-pressure, and pleasant. The price we were able to agree upon for the vehicle made the roundtrip 100 mile journey more than worth it. When it was time to take the vehicle home Kent took the time to walk my mother through the owner's manual and other documents; he patiently answered her questions; and he went out to the car with her and made sure she understood how to use each and every knob. The car was spotless, filled with a tank of gas and license plates good for a year. This car buying experience was beyond easy and a truly positive one. I should also note the Finance Manager Kingsley Kwakye was also the epitome of professionalism and kindness. I had submitted an internet request for a quote - 2011 Honda Accord sedan (Red) V6 with Navigation on a Saturday night around 9 PM. I replied and contacted Mr. Kent Smith (Internet Sales Consultant) the very next day (Sunday) at 11AM. Mr. Smith was very professional, answered all my questions (color, how many miles were on the car, etc) and I asked Mr. Smith to hold the Honda Accord as we would like to purchase the vehicle. We drove down to Fredericksburg and the car was ready, clean, gas tank full and Mr. Smith met us as we drove up. I related to Mr. Smith our previously poor experiences with various Honda dealers in the Alexandria area and how nice it was to be treated like a professional. Mr. Smith spent well over two hours with us (my wife) going over the various details of the Honda and really left no stone unturned. The facilities were one of the "best" that we had ever seen and I remarked that some dealer’s facilities felt like a bus station. Completing all the paperwork was very professional and refreshing. Mr. Smith stated that he would call us within two days to answer any questions and to ensure that we were pleased. Mr. Smith did contact us two days later, just as he stated, and we stated that we had no questions. I personally think this is due to Mr. Smith’s professionalism, attention to detail and overall superior management. We were so pleased that we advised Mr. Smith that we would be back to purchase a new Honda for our youngest daughter. Overall with 5 being the best, I would rate our experience a 5++. Even though the dealership was 230 miles from my home, I went there, was warmly greeted, promptly showed exactly the car I wanted, and the deal was done. At no time did I feel pressured, and the staff there fully explained their rationale for all offers, including the method for valuing my trade-in. I have purchased several cars in the past, and this transaction was the most civilized experience I've had. I am nothing short of shocked by the level of service and price I got from Mr. Felice and Pohanka Honda. The price was so low that other dealers in my area said it was a scam and they would jack up the pric price I got from Mr. Felice and Pohanka Honda. The best part of this whole experience was in the level of service I received. Pohanaka Honda is about 5 hours away from my house and I could not make it up to the dealership. Mr Felice drove the car down to meet me, with his niece following him to take him back. We met at a Panera bread to sign the papers. The experience was great, the car was in perfect condition. He took the time to explain different parts of the paperwork, car, and warranty and then I drove off in my new honda perfectly happy. Hats off to Mr. Felice and Pohanka Honda. I bought my car through USAA car buying service. Mel Girardin picked me up from the Amtrak station and brought me to the dealership. I test drove right away and did all of my paperwork after that. He didn't pressure me into getting more stuff on my car and he didn't give me any trouble about the price of the car (since it was cheaper through USAA) I waited awhile to do the financing and pay, but it was a Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't too bad. I talked to Bill Hamilton next, and he was very nice. He offered me better financing than I could've gotten through USAA. Overall, this was a GREAT dealership and everyone was very friendly and professional! More

My buying experience at Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg was excellent. I was connected to the dealership through the car-buying service run by my insurance company. I wanted a gray 2010 Honda Accord EX with manual transmission with gray interior and they had the best price of all the dealerships recommended by my insurance company. I had to go out of town after my initial request and contact with Helena Fountain and promised to contact her upon my return back to the east coast. After returning, I contacted Ms. Fountain to discuss the car I was interested in, but they didn't have it in their inventory. The manual transmission was very hard to find along the east coast but Ms. Fountain promised to search for it. Helena kept her promise by bending over backwards to find my car. She even went to pick up the car personally. I arrived at the dealership the next day to purchase the car and the experience was relatively pain-free plus the massage chair and cappucino were awesome! Ms. Fountain was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and extended herself to make my buying and trade-in experience a great one. She understood how I felt about trading my old car. I couldn't have asked for a better dealer and a car-buying experience. I highly recommend Pohanka Honda and Helena Fountain to anyone interested in purchasing a Honda.
