Pohanka Honda was the best dealership we have ever dealt with, bar none. The price was the best, the sales people were the best and the facility is the best. The only negative is that the dealership is so with, bar none. The price was the best, the sales people were the best and the facility is the best. We worked with Doug Owens, Steve Smith (both were salesman) and Kenny Wolter (finance person). All three were very up front and professional to work with. They made us happy in every way. More

We were searching for any dealer in Virginia or North Carolina, as we have family residing in both states. Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg beat every other dealer's price by $1,000. We spoke with Kingsley Kawkye over the phone and he calculated an out-the-door price for us with no haggling whatsoever. (As opposed to several other dealerships, many of which would not even discuss an initial quote without our coming to the lot first.) The day after our flight home, we took the train from Raleigh, NC to Fredericksburg, VA and Doug Owens from Pohanka Honda picked us up at the train station and we test drove the Fit back to the dealership. Everyone we dealt with every step of the way was straightforward and friendly and the overall customer service experience was unparalleled. When we met with Brandon in financing he only discussed additional options that would actually benefit us and when we declined the additional options we were not pressured nor made to feel in the least uncomfortable. We walked out of the dealership with the exact price we'd been promised over the phone, no haggling, no hassle. We were in a relatively vulnerable position (in immediate need of a car, and a four-hour train ride from home) and another dealership with fewer scruples might have taken advantage of that. The guys at Pohanka, on the other hand, bent over backwards to ensure that we got the car that we wanted at a substantially lower price than any other dealer in VA/NC. If you buy from Pohanka Honda, it will be, hands-down, the best car buying experience you could possibly have. More

We needed to get several things done on our car and thought we would take a gamble and drive 50 miles in hopes of a better experience. Mike Traber was wonderful, as was the mechanic who worked on our car. They took us out to see the problems and fixed everything before we left. The drive was VERY worth our time, we were quoted quite a bit more at the other dealership, and the service and environment were 100% better at Pohanka. When you are spending a lot of money for repairs, it is good to feel like you are being treated honestly. We felt this way at Pohanka. We will return for other big service jobs! A final note: While waiting for a quote on our car we struck up a conversation with another parent in the children’s area. He had driven down from Fairfax to service his van – he said you could not beat the service at Pohanka and it was worth the drive to him as well. More
I received a price through a buying service and was put in contact with Don who assured me that they had one of the two colors that I wanted. We emailed back and forth for a few weeks and finally I was able to take a day and drive up to Fredricksburg. The deal seemed great as it was 2k cheaper than the same car locally. Drove 2 hours and was sat down by Don who kindly told me that both colors that I wanted sold yesterday. Then, I was offered a color and a model that I did not want. I was livid!! I requested a different sales person because I was so angry at the one that I was dealing with. The "manager" told me some song and dance about how fast cars sell there and how he sells Hondas everyday to folks that do not meet there preferred color choices. I decided to look at the models/colors that were available since I had driven so far. I suspect this is what most folks do, thus the lie about the availability of cars. I finally wised up and decided that I was not going to spend 20K+ on a car that I was not 100% happy with, so I told the sales person that I was leaving. Miraculously, after 2 hours of agonizing over the prospect of buying a car that I was not crazy about, my new and improved salesman told me that he could get the car I wanted and have it delivered to my house 100 miles away!!! I that point I was tired of being screwed with, so I left out of principal. I bought a car from our local family owned dealer w/ zero hassle. I should have just gone there from the start. I suppose that you can get that illusive "great deal" from Pohanka, but you have better be ready for the complete annoying car dealership experience. I did not even make it to the closer, but the salesman was already pushing the paint protection package ($1400) because supposedly Honda recommends that you wax your car monthly. ;> You had better have your a-game ready for the scare tactics and pressure. I got a substantially below invoice price for a Honda Accord LX from Pohanka Honda. I spoke to Don Meney and he confirmed the price by email and asked me to call him regarding color. On Tue evening, we spoke and he offered me a black car, which he said he had in stock. I accepted and we agreed that I would travel down to Fredericksburg,VA from NC (a 200 mile trip) to buy the car. He also said that he would email me details of the car + price out the door + VIN no. the same day. I received no email till Wed evening, so I sent him a reminder. I then get a call from Kingsley Kwakye, who says he's the manager and Don is out for the day. He says he needs some time to check details. When he comes back to me, he says he has only one Accord LX is stock, it is a celestial blue. So I ask him, 'when do you expect the next black one to come in'. He says he doesn't know. He is expecting a red one this week. He doesn't know when he's going to get the next Accord LX in stock. In the same breath, he mentions that he's been selling 100's of these cars due to aggressive pricing. If I wanted the black color, he'd had to specially order them in, which would cost substantially more. However, if I wanted LX-Ps, he had plenty of those in stock, but it would cost me $1000+ extra. If you ask me, it's a classic bait and switch tactic. No money changed hands, however, I wasted about a week's worth of time. At the same time, I turned down more realistic offers from other dealers, some of whom I'd test driven with before. They weren't happy with me, but couldn't believe the price they were offering. Bottom line, you should take Pohanka Honda's offers with a pinch of salt. More
On Saturday, I purchased my first new car at Hendrick in Woodbridge. That was the worst experience I or my parents had ever had in a dealership! At 1:30 we received a call and were told that the "new" car they picked up in Maryland actually had around 1000 miles on it and they weren't planning on giving us much for the large amount miles. As a result, we took our business to Pohanka. We called, talked to Francis (sp?), informed him of what we were looking for and that I needed to be back at school that night. Since we were on a time crunch Pohanka expedited the process by having the car pulled up and ready to view, some paperwork started, and the keys ready to exchange when we walked in the door. My mom would go on to say that it was the fastest she'd every bought a car. The price of the car was more than reasonable. The staff was outgoing and friendly. Although salesmen have a bad reputation for being deceitful, at Pohanka, they were not. The price we were given over the phone was what we paid (out the door). Don helped me by going through the different lights on the dash, switching my luggage from my trade-in to my new car, and by putting the license plates on my new car. In the financing office, although I cannot remember the gentleman's name, my parents and I were pleased of how smooth the process was. We were not jerked around or surprised by higher prices. Although the process for buying my first car out of college started out horribly at Hendricks, it ended better than I could have imagined at Pohanka. I appreciate the staff's willingness to rush the process and inform me about the car I was buying. I have already informed friends of this place and will continue to send business. If I plan on buying another Honda in Virginia, there is no doubt that I will give Don at Pohanka of Fredericksburg a call. More

I drove 3 hours to buy my new 2011 Honda CRV. I dealt with Don Erickson and let me tell you, this was the best car salesman I have ever dealt with. I can assure you, when I buy another Honda, Im not calling any other dealerships but this one. I also will be happy to drive 3 hours knowing I got a great deal.
