I came to the dealership yesterday afternoon upset that my original equipment tires on my 2011 CRV had not made it to 40K miles. Sensing my disappointment with the tires I had he offered me an outstanding price on a set of Michelin tires. I took advantage of the offer and purchased the tires, an alignment and had my regular service performed. Chris Gott was my service advisor and was very helpful as well. On a Monday morning I was traveling from Washington, DC to my home in Richmond, VA. My car began to overheat on 95 south and I pulled over at the closest exit, which just so happened to be the exit for Poh to my home in Richmond, VA. After hearing from the service department that I would need a new engine, I decided that a new car would be the way to go for me. I was immediately escorted over to sales and met with Bill Hamilton. I had never bought a car before without my parents, and never a new car. I explained my story to Bill and let him know that we had already put a lot of money into my old car and were not interested in putting any more money into it. I also told him that I had never had a car payment before because we had always bought used. Bill was wonderful in explaining to me my options. he explained leasing, certified pre-owned, and the possibility of buying a new car. I told him up front that I did not plan to buy a car that day, and I did not feel at all pressured to do so which was such a relief. Bill allowed me to make a very big decision without feeling rushed or tricked into anything. A week later after a little shopping around and some research, I returned to Pohanka to purchase my very first car. Bill knew that I was coming from out of town and had to be back to Richmond in the afternoon so he worked hard to have everything ready to sign by the time we got there. The process was very quick and enjoyable and I love my 2013 Honda Civic. Bill even texted the next day to make sure I liked the car. I felt as though Bill made what I had been warned could be a very stressful and unpleasant process into a very easy, comfortable, and fun experience. As a first time car buyer, I learned a lot from the great people at Pohanka, and they helped me to get the car that best fit my needs, and at a price that I was comfortable with. Jim met us out on the lot which was nice. He has a pleasant not pushy attitude. He took us out, after a very good explanation of most of the bells and whistles on the dashboard, for our test drive. It was a rather easy sale. My husband is an engineer so he likes details. Jim was knowledgeable about what he was selling. It was really a good experience and we are enjoying the car. As a sideline, when I arrived at the dealership I asked Jim if there were any Military Veterans employed there. Jim thought there was. I am a strong believer that every company in the USA should be actively seeking out our returning Vets and offering them employment, opportunities. More
