Dropped the ball on the warranty service. I had to give them one star as it won't allow you to continue without selecting something. I dropped my vehicle off to have a replacement key made f I had to give them one star as it won't allow you to continue without selecting something. I dropped my vehicle off to have a replacement key made for my 2013 Dodge Challenger. the key was lost during a family outing at the beach and the warranty I had covered a replacement key within 5 years or 100K miles. I had about two weeks left to take advantage of the warranty so I expected no problems. i contacted the warranty company first to make the claim and ensure I could take it to the dealer. They approved the work. The dealer said it would only take about 45 minutes to create the key and finish the work. on the date of my appointment I brought the car to the dealer and waited as it should have taken less than two hours total. After three hours the service tech came and said they needed to run the car for 45 minutes in idle so the computer would allow then to read the key signature. i asked why it took so long to get to this point because they were asking my permission to run the car in idle for so long. they said they could not find the key at first and then it took them a couple hours to figure out that the computer needed to run for that long to reset the computer to be able to sync the new key. keep in mind that I made the appointment about two weeks earlier. When I went to check out the cashier wanted me to pay for the key. I said check again as it is a warranty service. I ended up having to talk to the Manager to get a copy of the warranty that signed five years ago when I bought the car. this is something that they said they could do. I gave them the claim number and phone number of the warranty company when I made the appointment. When I tried to use the key the next morning it would not work. when they got it back they took two more hours to figure out that the sync did not take. additionally, I discovered they did not provide an emergency key with the fob. They told me I had to pay for the emergency key and I discussed it with them to discover why it was not part of the "key" that is under warranty. When I called the warranty company, After I got home they said the dealer did not provide the emergency key part number when they quoted the parts to them. By this time it was past the deadline date for the warranty and I could not get reimbursed for the emergency key. It was not cheap. I am trying to decide if I want to pursue this further and get the dealer to eat the cost. the failure was on the dealer for not providing the full parts list to the warranty company. my failure was to assume the dealer knew what parts they needed to order. If they had provided the full parts list the emergency key would have been paid for under the warranty. In this instance I am not happy. I hope someone from the dealer reads this and seeks me out to make this right. More
