I am contemplating on what to say and how to say it because I am writing this review while very angry and disgusted with this place. Where should I first start off, my boyfriend and I went there on a S because I am writing this review while very angry and disgusted with this place. Where should I first start off, my boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday at first to look at one specific car. I asked for ROMEO because that is whom I spoke with on the phone so I only though it would be fair to let him close the sale. Well, after looking at the 2007 Jeep Compass, we decided NO! First the car didn’t turn on (which is understandable, being that it just snowed, it’s been very cold, and I’m sure they can’t turn on every car everyday), nonetheless after getting the car to turn on, it was making this weird and loud noise from the engine and / or motor, and the Engine Light was ON! Obviously after seeing that it was a NO GO! Plus, no wonder it was being sold ‘as is’. Next we then saw a 2010 Jeep Compass which we happen to like as well, it turned on fine, sounded smooth and overall seemed like the “it car”. Only thing that kept rattling our brain was for a 2010 it had 97 and something thousand miles on it but to be honest we felt that we can deal with that! After all is said and done and we were able to bring it down to the price we felt comfortable with. ROMEO then told us we had to just give a deposit of $500 payment down as a ‘hold’ so that they won’t sell the car to anyone else! Well this is where it gets good, after repeatedly asking him, is the $500 refundable, what if we don’t like, agree or can’t afford the financing options, or even the car itself after test driving it, what then happens? Can we get our money back? HE THEN TOLD US …. We would only get $425 back because $75 is not refundable because it covers the fee charged to ‘check our credit’. After all, we didn’t have all the paperwork to continue with the financing process so we agreed to come back on Monday, before leaving though we asked once again if we were able to give it a test drive and ROMEO sort of brushed it off and said on Monday! Not to mention when looking at the car, turning it on, looking under the hood we asked him if we could test drive it. …… WELL after going there again today to finish the deal, before closing it my boyfriend again asked to test drive it, they only allowed him to test drive in circles in the parking lot!!! Right there we felt a little uncomfortable, here’s a car we’re looking to purchase and we can’t test drive it, that sounds a little funny to me. Well of course after he circled it a couple times, he checked under the hood and it had a bad oil smell, and smoky, not only that but the car ate his CD! Needless to say we didn’t feel comfortable getting the car that was only coming with a 30 day warranty, that only covered the engine and power plates and could possibly have issues we weren’t aware of. ROMEO then tells us our $500 is NOT refundable BUT that is not what he told us on Saturday after I specifically asked him several times is our money refundable! They told us we had one of two options, take the car or choose another one. BUT do they really think we want to continue working with them after all this nonsense. He then got his manager and they just fed us a bunch of BS! Moral of the story is , DON’T GO TO NJ STATE AUTO AUCTIONS IN JC ON SIPP AVE, DON’T SIGN ANYTHING, DON’T PUT ANY MONEY DOWN for a “hold”, ROMEO WAS A LIAR, THEIR THEIVES, and CONNS! I am very upset and disgusted by them. More
These guys are such a fake. They are like every other used car dealership. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BUY YOUR CAR FROM HERE!!! Their cars start having problems after a few days after you purchase it. Pure sleez used car dealership. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BUY YOUR CAR FROM HERE!!! Their cars start having problems after a few days after you purchase it. Pure sleeze and they have nothing good about them. Do not risk buying your car from here. They paint their cars if they are scratched, they put compound on them if they have dents, they do everything they can so you dont notice anything with the car. They even put thick motor oil so you cant tell whats going on with the motor. I would never buy a car from here again. They are the worst More
Here is why I am giving this place a bad rating. This place is the stereotype of what gives used car dealers a bad name. The unprofessionalism started the minute our salesman, Rolando, opened his mouth. place is the stereotype of what gives used car dealers a bad name. The unprofessionalism started the minute our salesman, Rolando, opened his mouth. Just about every comment he made insulted my intelligence. High pressure sales tactics coupled with outright lies made the whole experience terrible. We made an offer on a car that was turned down but Rolando came back with a price over Kelly Blue Book, but he "assured us it is a very good price for the car". We ended up walking out of the dealership feeling like it was such a waste of time. The next day I got a call from Rolando telling me they would accept our offer. I told him the offer was conditional based on a satisfactory test drive, and he agreed to that. When I arrived to pick up the car I was told I could only drive the car in the parking lot! Are you kidding me, the parking lot? what a mickey mouse operation. To add insult to injury, I was told they warrantee their cars. The 'warrantee' was 30 days/1000 miles but what Rolando conveniently failed to say was that the warrantee is a 50/50 warrantee, meaning if something is wrong with the car the buyer pays 50% of the cost of the parts and labor of the repairs! And my favorite part of the experience was getting in the car at 9:00pm in beautiful Jersey City and the gas guage was on empty, this was after Rolando told me they would put gas in the car. When I told him they forgot to put gas in the car, he had the nerve to tell me they did! Get this, he said they put enough gas in it to get me to the gas station across the street!! This was the single worst purchasing experience I have ever had. I would strongly advise against wasting your time at this unprofessional establishment. The price of the cars is no bargain and they have the nerve to tack on an additional $400 fee (auction fee) and $180 paperwork fee (which only gives you temporary plates, you have to go to DMV to get regular plates). The customer service will just make you want to vomit. Oh and I almost forgot, they had my daughter write a review while I was doing the paperwork. They stood over her shoulder telling her she has to give them 5 stars. What a bunch of scammers! More
This dealer utilizes "bait and switch" scamming tactics. I found a car online that I was interested in and called ahead to make sure the car was available. I was told that it was, so I told them I tactics. I found a car online that I was interested in and called ahead to make sure the car was available. I was told that it was, so I told them I would head right over. In the HOUR it took me to get there apparently they "sold" the car. Then they proceeded to show me cars priced much higher than the one I had been looking at. The salesman I dealt with was ignorant and made up fake answers when he didn't know the real answers to my questions. When purchasing a used car the dealership requires to you sign away your rights to lemon laws as well as your right to a refund. The dealership also does not allow you to test-drive used vehicles on the road, only around their lot -- which means you can't get the car up to more than 15mph or so. I stupidly made the mistake of purchasing a car from them and the car had mechanical problems while driving it home. I called the next day to see if they would fix them and was told "too bad." After making the sale the dealership had absolutely no interest in making sure I was taken care of. My experience at the New Jersey Auto Auction was one of the worst car-buying experiences I've ever had. I would not recommend that anyone purchase from this dealer. More
