I had a wonderful car buying experience at McKenna VW! I knew exactly what I was looking for (2003 Golf TDI) and was searching all over the western US for one in excellent quality. Lucky for me I found one knew exactly what I was looking for (2003 Golf TDI) and was searching all over the western US for one in excellent quality. Lucky for me I found one not too far away at McKenna (I live in San Diego). The online price was great and was honored at the store, my sales person Kim was very helpful without being pushy, and they were all very helpful about reaching an arrangement so I could take my new car home as soon as possible even though I had to move some money around and couldn't bring in cash for a few days. The sales manager Louis was wonderful and very personally responsive. I felt a high level of personal service both in the store and post purchase. I have made a couple small requests for information after my purchase and have received personal responses from Louis very quickly. I will happily return to McKenna for my next car! The only reason reason I gave a 4 for quality of work is because I was told the car would be detailed before I picked it up the next day, which it was not. This does not mean it was dirty though. It was very clean when I took a test drive, but if they offer to detail it I expect it to be done. More
Purchasing a new vehicle can be very stressful. Haggleling over the price of the car, and the push from salespeople can be overwhelming. Now with internet sales, buying a new vehicle can be a very Haggleling over the price of the car, and the push from salespeople can be overwhelming. Now with internet sales, buying a new vehicle can be a very rewarding experience. After researching the vehicle of choice over the internet and armed with information such as price, financing, tradein stats, 2 phone calls to McKenna VW in Huntington Beach was all it took to get the exact vehicle. Our experience was excellent. Kelly Wilson, Internet Sales Mgr, is the best CAR SALESMAN ever. Honest, Fair, Friendly and "Just a nice guy" descibes Kelly. Marin Delgado, GM, is friendly and very easy to do business with. From start to finish, test drive, to taking a new VW home took two and half hours. Not bad, considering sometimes it can take days to finalize a car purchase. Most importantly, my beautiful daughter is happy with her new 2011 VW Jetta. Smiles Smiles and Smiles! Great service from MCKENNA VW Huntington Beach, especially Kelly Wilson and Marin Delgado. If you are looking for a New VW, consider our experience and call or stop in at Mckenna VW in H.B. CA Say hi to Kelly! You will be happy happy happy! More
Look... I love my car and the price paid was competitive, but the pros of this major purchase stop there. I bought a used car from McKenna and did all the appropriate research online in advance. Their webs but the pros of this major purchase stop there. I bought a used car from McKenna and did all the appropriate research online in advance. Their website indicates "contact our online sales rep" for the best pricing available only to the saavy online shopper. I did, they offered me an amazing price and then told me that price was a mistake when I got there. I was assured it was a mistake, not a bait and switch deal. The price offered in the end was not a bad price but it was not the one quoted. The car was not well prepped, with a number of obvious problems which should have been corrected. It is not a Volkswagen, so perhaps they just did not feel it was important. One of the rear window shades in the back was improperly opened by the salesman Kelly and slipped inside the door - gone until I figure out how to open the door and fix it. The nav system was frozen in Mexico, needed a new satellite antenna which was covered by the warranty on the car... stupid things that they just didn't care enough to handle. I was truly let down about a month later by McKenna. They had placed paper plates on the car. I assumed I would get new plates from the DMV. I did receive the registration, but no tags. I called and they said the plates were under the paper and all I had to do was remove the paper. I did and they had never placed a current 2011 sticker on the car so my plates were expired. Timing was bad, because I was getting ready to move. Their DMV rep told me she would send me a form and I would get the tags in four weeks or so... I told her that didn't work for me and she said she would call the Sales Manager. Never heard from them again. So I believe they did bait and switch me on price, did not appropriately service the car I purchased and really let me down on customer service and follow up. I would not recommend McKenna based on my triple strike experience! More

We took our 2004 V8 SUV to Mckenna when it developed a whirring noise while driving between 10-60 mph that involved no vibration of any kind or lack of power output. Our regular mechanic of 15 years could whirring noise while driving between 10-60 mph that involved no vibration of any kind or lack of power output. Our regular mechanic of 15 years could not identify the original source of the problem, he did not charge us a dime for his attempt to diagnose the problem but he suggested we take it to the dealer. Davis Richards, the service manager who took our car in assured us that his 'experienced technicians' would solve the mystery. 6 hours later they diagnosed a faulty Prop Shaft and estimated the overall cost at $1,355 parts + labor. They charged us $115 for this diagnose. Since the car is out of factory warranty, we decided to give the business to our mechanic. He ordered the original VW part ($1100) and installed it. But the noise is still there. Nothing has changed. The problem still is the same as when we first had it checked. Richard Davis of Mackenna: 1. Acted in a deceiving manner by documenting a recommendation for us to buy expensive parts to 'fix' something that was not damaged. 2. Failed to diagnose the problem correctly and/or intentionally concealed the real and probably much less expensive cause of the problem. 3. Charged us for a blatant misdiagnose. More

I leased a vehicle from McKenna VW of Huntington Beach 3 years ago. I never had a problem with my 2007 Rabbit, the only problem was the customer service from almost all off the employees, the Finance Manger years ago. I never had a problem with my 2007 Rabbit, the only problem was the customer service from almost all off the employees, the Finance Manger, the Leasing Representative, and even the General Manager Marin Delgado. So here's what happened: I lost one of the remote keys while I had the vehicle. When it came to my end of term inspection I told the gentle man and he said it wouldn't cost more than $100 to replace it. I called VW of America and VW Leasing to confirm this and everyone I spoke to said it would be less than $100 to replace the remote key. When I turned the car back into the dealership they said I had to pay for the key that day. The dealership charged me over $280 for the key!! I received my end of term sales agreement and VW Leasing charged me only $42 for the missing remote key. I called the dealership and spoke to the Leasing Representative and he said "You received bad information from us. You weren't suppose to pay for the key the day you turned in your vehicle." I then asked how I could get my money back since I was suppose to pay for the key that day and I would much rather pay the $42 that VW Leasing was charging me. He responded with "Good Luck, talk to my General Manager." So I called Marin Delgado the General Manager and he didn't call me back for 2 days. When I called him on the 3rd day he yelled at me for almost 10 minutes about how I was out of line and I was wrong. I'm still working to fix this issue but in the mean time, DON'T TAKE YOUR BUSINESS HERE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WITH YOUR BUSINESS. IT'S NOT WORTH THE TIME AND HASSLE TO DEAL WITH McKenna VW of Huntington Beach. You will get a lot more respect from another dealership even if you have to drive a little further. More
I was told today (Late June 2010) after looking at a used car, a car that was technically used, but only had 300 miles on it, I could have it for cost. Well, what they said their cost was. I explained that car, a car that was technically used, but only had 300 miles on it, I could have it for cost. Well, what they said their cost was. I explained that if I bought a new TDI (diesel) I would qualify for a government $1,300 rebate for "clean cars", but this used car wouldn't get me that rebate, being used. Can they adjust the price to make the used car worth my while. Answer: "No." I said, "No one will buy this car at this price, 1. it is used, and 2. they would be paying $1,300 too much." Answer: "We will wait for someone who doesn't know about the rebate." Wow. So, they wouldn't tell people about it? Or, would they lie about the used cars eligibility for the rebate and let the buyer figure it out later? Or would they say nothing and wait for the buyer to learn about it after they bought it? Which way does this create a positive review? I would NOT go there again, I wouldn't trust anything they say. I am writing to VW corporate, I think perhaps this is a bit unethical. More
Bought car in March of 09. Traded in a BMW, there was a pay off supposed to be paid to BMW. They took so long to send the check to BMW that the account went to collections. Then the cars steering wheel was pay off supposed to be paid to BMW. They took so long to send the check to BMW that the account went to collections. Then the cars steering wheel was off to the left from the day we bought it, along with residue and glue from moldings not being attached correctly. Not a big a deal right, but then when we asked them to fix it they wanted 120.00. Hows that? Worst experience I have ever had. DO NOT DEAL WITH MCKENNA VW... You will regret it. More
