Last month my granddaughter and I had the most insulting and belittling experience we ever received from an auto dealer or any other business. My granddaughter purchased a car from McKenna VW Cerritos on and belittling experience we ever received from an auto dealer or any other business. My granddaughter purchased a car from McKenna VW Cerritos on April 21 and I was with her during the sale as a cosigner for the car. The salesman told us that it had a 24-month bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. I asked the finance manager, Jeff Garcia, for a copy of the warranty and he said no. I asked why I couldn’t get a copy and he claimed it didn’t exist in writing. I asked him for a copy of what the service manager uses to determine coverage. He refused. The more we insisted, the more sarcastic and insulting he became. He told me “even your granddaughter can understand this” which, of course, she didn’t. Rude doesn’t even begin to describe his behavior. I asked him to print some things he showed me on the in the VW web site but he said they didn’t have a printer. After we had negotiated the final price with the salesman and general manager, my granddaughter asked Mr. Garcia to explain some of the numbers on the contract. He told her that was none of her business. We still have not been given anything explaining the service contract, even after talking to the general manager. More

Several problems here. First, they applied their own sticker in addition to the Moroney stating "market adjustment" to add $3000 to sales price of VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I went to several o sticker in addition to the Moroney stating "market adjustment" to add $3000 to sales price of VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I went to several other dealerships and no one else did this. Next, they behaved like a classic old school dirty sales dealer. They wasted time, continually stalled, showed me computer screens with "invoice" price that didn't match Edmunds.com or other dealers. I got up to leave multiple times, and each time someone chased me out promising to work a better deal if I came back in (only to be disappointed later). I will NEVER go here again, especially when there are multiple other dealerships that sell VWs at better prices and with better service in the Southern California area! More
My experience with McKenna Cerritos started with exchanging emails and looking to buy through the no-hassle internet pricing. I was looking for a car that was pretty hard to find at the time and th exchanging emails and looking to buy through the no-hassle internet pricing. I was looking for a car that was pretty hard to find at the time and the dealer claimed they had the car in their inventory. The internet salesman quoted me a decent price online to start, and since I was having trouble finding the car elsewhere, I agreed to come in. It turns out the car wasn't on their lot... but rather at the port. The salesman showed me a paper saying that the specific car is coming to his dealership in 7-10 days. He said I could still buy the car and he would secure it and when it comes in it is mine. Okay, fair enough. We settle on an out the door price for the car after the salesman has gone back and forth from who knows where several times (being gone for 5-10 minutes at a time). He grabs all my information and I'm thinking we are just about ready to make a deal. He leaves again and my girlfriend and I wait for 10 minutes or so, talking about how excited we are to get the car for a good price and decent APR, and really didn't mind waiting 7-10 days for the car to arrive. Anyway, the salesman's boss comes out to us and said they "messed up real bad" and that "the car had been bought from right out under us just 20 minutes ago." This is when I realize it was just a scam to get me into the dealership. Now, of course instead of trying to secure a different one, or offering to order one for me, they try to sell me a car with upgrades at a "great price", with patronizing "really?! really.... really?!" when I tell them I am not interested in a car with upgrades FOR MORE MONEY THAN THEY ARE WORTH IN THE FIRST PLACE. They tried to keep lowering the price of the car with upgrades by lowering my monthly payment. Everytime they lowered the monthly payment, I asked how much it would cost me out the door, which they were very reluctant to calculate. Instead, they continued to say "it's right around this" [which was a lowered, not out the door price]. Hmm... something wasn't adding up. They claimed they were talking directly to VW of USA and lowering my monthly payment without telling me how. They told me they were "bending over backward" for me to try to sell me a car, and showed me "how much money [they] were losing". When they finally showed me the out the door price on their "final offer" it ended up at over $3000 more than what we had agreed to for the base model, when the difference in MSRP between the two is only $2200. So, not only was the deal not good, it was straight up bad. It started off civilized, but as the night when on they got more and more pushy, trying to make me feel dumb and agree to buy a car without seeing the number I actually care about: out the door price. The next day I received an online quote from another dealer for the same exact model for less money than the guys at Cerritos were offering me after 2.5 hours of haggling. Would not recommend coming here. More
Worst experience for the car Leasing. They are all eager to sell a car but once you step out, they totally forget who you are. Just leased 2011 jetta from them and brand new car was scratched on rim and bot to sell a car but once you step out, they totally forget who you are. Just leased 2011 jetta from them and brand new car was scratched on rim and bottom of the bumper. Guy name Mark (he like to call himself "coach") said to bring the car back next day and they will take care of it. I was excited to have a new car and took off. Went back there next day and was asked to come back next week as they didn't have any loaner car to give it to me. Went back after a week and COACH was not there and I left a number hoping to get a call back. Been back and forth more than few times. Had to drive around on a spare tire cuz car shakes on the freeway. Thank god it is a full size spare tire!! Car is in the shop now been 2 days, hopefully will get it back fixed. Asked for the loaner so I can have something to drive around. COACH responded that He said that he will only get the car fixed... He didn't make any promises to give me a loaner.. My response to that was really this is service you get even going for the brand new car!! The guy mark has no idea what customer service is.. Please before taking over the car get everything fixed even on brand new one. Otherwise you already know my story. Best of luck if you are planning on using them!! I know for sure that this is my last car from Mckenna !! More
Frustrating experience - they do not know how to do the paperwork and once you pay, they don’t care about the mess they caused. I bought there a new VW and everything looked OK. After 2 months I realized paperwork and once you pay, they don’t care about the mess they caused. I bought there a new VW and everything looked OK. After 2 months I realized that I did not get my certificate of title (pink slip). I checked at DMV and found that those guys messed the paperwork so my car was owned by a bank (that was not the only mistake). I have been calling them dozens of times leaving messages for different people but nobody bothered. It took me 3 weeks to get them interested in my case. They promised to solve it but nothing happened for next month. When I asked, they never knew the status and always promised to call me next day and then haven’t called at all. Finally I’ve contacted the dealership owner to get some progress. It’s been 5 months since purchase and I finally got papers but it cost me a lot of time and effort. More
We were quite interested in purchasing a used EOS, we found a car we liked, test drove it and told the sales staff that we needed to think about it but were sure we would be back. When we called an exper found a car we liked, test drove it and told the sales staff that we needed to think about it but were sure we would be back. When we called an expert we found out that a relative of theirs had an EOS that he loved but he wanted to get out of his current lease because he found another type of vechile he would like to purchase and if we were interested we could either take over his lease or buy out the balance. We decided to buy out the balance and called Mark because we felt it was the fair thing to do, to give him the opportunity to get some sort of sale. When we told him this he said that he would help us. When we gave him our information and asked about the 2.9% financing he had quoted us before hand, he then told us it would be 4.9% because he had checked and that is what our bank would give is on a used car. He also told us our credit score was 50 points lower then we had been told it was at Timmons VW in Long Beach. Needless to say we went back to Timmons and they were quite helpful got us the quoted financing and charged us $950.00 less for doing the transaction then McKenna would have. We have a Porsche and have always had positive experience with McKenna but this will be the last time we will deal with them. One would think that if you are nice enough to go back and give them business that they wouldn't try to cheat you out of every penny they could. More
