Karli was very knowledgeable about the Honda CR-V and her dealership. She made us feel like welcomed guests, which was truly a refreshing experience. While she asked us for the "sale" we never felt unduly dealership. She made us feel like welcomed guests, which was truly a refreshing experience. While she asked us for the "sale" we never felt unduly pressured to buy a vehicle that wasn't right for us. We believe Karli's approach to car sales can go a long way in dis-spelling the consumer's negative view of the used car salesperson. Others can learn from her. We will definitely recommend Karli Cooper at McGrath Honda in Elgin to all our friends and associates. More
My mom recently bought a car through McGrath Honda with the help of Sales manager Chris Houlis. I wanted to make a point of saying what a pleasure it was to deal with Chris. He made the process so easy the help of Sales manager Chris Houlis. I wanted to make a point of saying what a pleasure it was to deal with Chris. The dealership lied to us to get us into their store. We called the day before going and I spoke with someone who said the car I wanted to see was sold. My husband called back later that day and all of sud called the day before going and I spoke with someone who said the car I wanted to see was sold. My husband called back later that day and all of sudden the car was available. That it must have been on a test drive before and that is why they told me it was gone. The following day we drove 3 hours to get there and of course the car wasn't there. The admitted to lying to us and claimed they weren't sure how it happened. That it must have been the first time that it has occurred. Despite our instincts we still looked at other vehicles and ended up buying a used 2011 Honda Odyssey. LEMON!! We have owned the car for two months and it has already been in the shop 3 times. Needless to say we are frustrated and highly annoyed with the whole process. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. Shady and sneaky. More

I purchased a used 2006 Honda Odyssey for over $10k, and the dealership apparently was deceptive about issues with the vehicle, they were selling as-is, so I knew the risk was mine, however I was completely the dealership apparently was deceptive about issues with the vehicle, they were selling as-is, so I knew the risk was mine, however I was completely mislead about the condition of the vehicle on very serious safety issues with the air bags. There was a broken trim piece which they said they would fix, but then the price had to change to accomidate the fix. I also found there were issues with sliding doors, within 24 hrs of purchase. Additionally, they also had a pretty hard sell approach, one more reason I was not happy with my experience. Finally, they made me sit and wait over 4 hours with 2 young children before they did the paperwork on the sale. To their credit, McGrath Honda did finally agree to take the vehicle back (if I would acknowledge in this review that they had resolved the problem.) I can't give a good rating, however they did finally do the right thing by taking the vehicle back. Unfortunately it was also difficult to get my money back when they did finally agree to take the vehicle back. My calls were not returned, and I went through several rounds of excuses why they couldn't give me a check before finally refunding my cash deposit. More

My wife was driving our 2006 Honda Odyssey that we purchased from used back in 2009 from another dealership. This vehicle has run flat tires with the pax system. As she and my daughter were shopping purchased from used back in 2009 from another dealership. This vehicle has run flat tires with the pax system. As she and my daughter were shopping, she had gotten a flat rear passanger tire and proceeded to the closest honda dealership (McGrath in Elgin). She pulled into the service area and was greeted by CJ Nemec. Now it was pretty obvious why she and my daughter were there, the glaring tire light on the dash as well as the flat rear tire. CJ proceeded to tell my wife that the tires need to be replaced in pairs and the vehicle was also due for regular maintenance and a timing belt etc. My wife is not a car person and she knows if anything other than a flat needs to be done, she would have me be the one doing all the leg work. However, for this case, all she needed was a new rear tire. After going back and forth with CJ, she made it extremely clear all she needed was a new rear tire. Now, we are well aware that the run flat tires are expensive so we were ready to shell out some money for the 1 tire. As part of the flat tire, the inner ring was also needing to be replaced (the car was driven no more than 15 miles with the flat as we don't live far from the dealership). After not believing my wife that she didn't drive it more than that, CJ gave us a quote to replace the tire and ring - $600. Yes, 1 tire and 1 ring, I still can't believe it. My wife texted me that she got a flat and that she has it being taken care of. I asked her how much and she said $600+ taxes. I though we were getting 2 tires for that as a year earlier i bought 4 tires and an alignment from this same dealership a year earlier the cost was $1,200 for 4 tires. I told her to hold off on approving any charges as I thought that was ridiculous. I proceeded to call another Honda dealership and was quoted exactly 1/2 the price ($300 and that was including tax). I called back and spoke with CJ and he walked me through their pricing and I patiently waited for him to finish telling me exactly what the cost was and then I asked him how he can charge exatcly 2 times as much as their competitor. This is what I was quoted- $328 for the Run Flat Tire, $200 for the inner Ring, and $75 in miscellaneous charges and a gel pack. That's over $600. I told him i could get the same work done for $300 at another Honda dealership and how could he justify taking advatage of people like that. Also, he didn't even offer my wife a loaner car as they didn't have the tire in stock and my wife had to wait over an hour with my daughter at their dealership so my neighbor could come get them. (and yes, i would have gotten them myself but I was out of town on business). Now the horrible service they provided me and my wife gets even worse. As I told them we are taking our business elsewhere, I had to figure out how to get my car to the other honda dealership since McGrath had cut the original tire off the rim. As the car was up on their service rack, they put a spare tire on it and moved it to the back parking lot, took the spare off, and proceded to place my rim with the ring back on the tire and remove the jack from underneath the car. How unbelievable is that??? I asked them if they could leave the spare on the tire so I could drive it to another dealership and I would return the spare to them the that same day as I would drive past their dealership on my way home. The said no, that's not how we do business. Really? I drove an hour to the other dealership, they gave me a spare tire and i drove back to McGrath and put a jack under my van and put the spare tire on and left their dealership for the last time. What a horrible experience that was, right from the start. We've learned 2 things from this experience: 1. Stay and do business with people you like and trust and 2. Be careful about doing business with dealerships like McGrath- How awful an experience this was. More
