OUR HISTORY Walt DeBoer founded Lithia Motors in 1946 as a Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealership in Ashland, Oregon. Following Walt’s death in 1968, Walt’s son Sid along with Dick Heimann, grew the business to include 5 stores and 19 franchises in Southern Oregon. In December 1996, this collection of dealerships was transformed into Lithia Motors, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE stock symbol-LAD). We envisioned a company that would continuously grow, provide great customer service, and opportunities for employees. TODAY Lithia is one of America’s largest automotive retailers featuring most domestic and import franchises. Our stores serve urban and rural populations throughout the Western and Midwest United States. We are focused on providing customers with an honest and simpler buying and service experience. We are giving customers straightforward information so that they can make confident decisions. We believe that our local communities are our lifeblood. Ron, Thank you for taking the time to alert us of your concerns. We are human and we make mistakes, but when we do we assume responsibility for our mistakes, do whatever we can to mitigate the inconvenience to our customers, and then share the learning experience with the team so as to avoid making the same mistake again in the future. Having said that, please understand that certain Hyundai recalls allow us to just replace a part or download an update, and some recalls require an inspection first, and a vin-specific ordering process for the replacement part. We aren't quite sure why Hyundai requires the inspection first, but we think it might be done to keep any one dealer (most likely in major markets) from hoarding parts and getting an unfair advantage over their competitors. Please accept our humble apology. Hopefully you noticed that we filled your tank for the inconvenience we caused you.
