OUR HISTORY
Walt DeBoer founded Lithia Motors in 1946 as a Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealership in Ashland, Oregon. Following Walt’s death in 1968, Walt’s son Sid along with Dick Heimann, grew the business to include 5 stores and 19 franchises in Southern Oregon. In December 1996, this collection of dealerships was transformed into Lithia Motors, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE stock symbol-LAD). We envisioned a company that would continuously grow, provide great customer service, and opportunities for employees.
TODAY
Lithia is one of America’s largest automotive retailers featuring most domestic and import franchises. Our stores serve urban and rural populations throughout the Western and Midwest United States.
We are focused on providing customers with an honest and simpler buying and service experience. We are giving customers straightforward information so that they can make confident decisions.
We believe that our local communities are our lifeblood. In addition to the employment opportunities we provide in each of our neighborhoods, we also provide contributions to charitable organizations that serve our families, friends, and customers.

Co-ordinated sales staff, works well together and all are courteous and friendly. Our new car purchase went smooth and professional all they way, in spite of Covid-19 restrictions. I would recommend Lithia Hyundai of Reno to anyone even entertaining the idea of looking at new cars. Unbelievable choices in models and a lot of good reasons you should check this dealership first. All the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Joe was amazing. We are over the top thrilled with our new Hyundai Palisades Limited. This car oozes with safety features. It’s unfortunate, but it was very poor experience. I received a nice truck, but my service was not great. My salesmen spoke more about commission dropping than actually trying work a deal with me. Several things were discussed and signed on to be done which we’re not done when the truck was to be picked up, including being told the truck was in the specs when clearly the truck was not when it was driven.
