OUR HISTORY Walt DeBoer founded Lithia Motors in 1946 as a Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealership in Ashland, Oregon. Following Walt’s death in 1968, Walt’s son Sid along with Dick Heimann, grew the business to include 5 stores and 19 franchises in Southern Oregon. In December 1996, this collection of dealerships was transformed into Lithia Motors, Inc., a publicly traded company (NYSE stock symbol-LAD). We envisioned a company that would continuously grow, provide great customer service, and opportunities for employees. TODAY Lithia is one of America’s largest automotive retailers featuring most domestic and import franchises. Our stores serve urban and rural populations throughout the Western and Midwest United States. We are focused on providing customers with an honest and simpler buying and service experience. We are giving customers straightforward information so that they can make confident decisions. We believe that our local communities are our lifeblood. Hi Tiffany, I’m sorry you feel as though the deal you received wasn’t made in good faith, and I apologize for your treatment in the service department. We are absolutely in uncharted territory for a Hyundai store. While Hyundai has always built and sold vehicles with a high value proposition, it’s only in the last year or so that we’ve had to add a market adjustment to keep the lights on. Due to covid related supply line issues and a chip factory burning to the ground in South Korea, we are working harder than ever with a fraction of the inventory (currently at about a 30 day supply of vehicles). When new cars that were sold at a discount a year ago are bringing $7,000 to $8,000 dollars over their original manufacturers list price, the values of used cars drives the margins of new cars up along with it. On the subject of your service visit; I’m not sure what Larry said or did in the service drive when you came in to get your car washed, but I am absolutely prepared to make it right. If I have to come pick your car up at your home or office and return it to you cleaned properly, I’m prepared to do that at your earliest convenience. We are human and we make mistakes, but when we do it’s important to acknowledge the mistake, apologize, and do what we can to repair the relationship with the customer.
