What follows is a detailed review with both good and bad feedback provided after I interfaced with dealer expressing my concerns before I wrote this post. The good: Sales Department- Dealership is feedback provided after I interfaced with dealer expressing my concerns before I wrote this post. The good: Sales Department- Dealership is very clean and personnel (especially the salesman-Brian) was very professional and welcoming. He deserves 5 stars notwithstanding what came afterward. He was thorough and completely upfront and accommodating. He was also very responsive to any and all requests after the sale. The Automobile- 2005 Honda Odyssey1 105,000mi- Larry Miller had jus taken vehicle in on a trade. When I called, it was ‘in service ‘ for what they described as a comprehensive service check. Sales assured me that service does very thorough job checking each used vehicle. Anything that does not meet their specifications is corrected OR vehicle is sent to auction. Sounds good, right? Give the customer a good vehicle to establish and keep a reputation of integrity. When I buy a used vehicle, I follow a systematic checklist using my own tools- 1. I test battery 2. I check alternator voltage while car running 3. I check bottom of oil cap 4. I check bottom of radiator cap 5. Tires 6. General interior, exterior condition 7. All switches, doors, windows 8. Glass inspection 9. Flashlight inspection of undercarriage for leaks, slime deposits. 10. Hand check of bottom of oil pan 11. Test drive - checking for abnormal sounds, alignment, braking, shifting, etc 12. I asked for a copy of the checklist they used on their inspection (Larry Miller told me they didn’t have one- first red flag) The Bad I did all of these checks to include the hand to the oil pan right after they finished servicing the van and changing oil. Oil pan was dry and looked clean). I paid cash for van-$7500- they did a complete detail service (which was very well done BTW) and delivered vehicle 4 days later. Result- van leaked oil on my cement by early next morning. I jacked it up and put stands underneath. I found that the oil pan had been wiped clean but had a noticeable leak from the right side of the gasket which had coated the surrounding area with a thick/dry oil film. The takeaway ( after contacting dealer about their comprehensive inspection) is this- I should have listened to my friends and neighbors about Larry Miller. The feedback I had received prior to visiting one of their dealerships was entirely negative- especially concerning the service after the sale and the service department. Fact: Larry Miller inspected this vehicle and changed oil. Then knowingly sold it to a customer knowing it had mechanical issues. As part of this sale, was the known fact it had a leak and an intentional effort to conceal it by wiping it clean before the customer viewed it. Keep this fact in mind. I am not a mechanic by trade but can assure you that any competent human could easily see the leak if they could inspect the bottom of the vehicle on a lift. It is difficult to find dealers with integrity and, unfortunately for Brian (who they left holding the bag so to speak), I would recommend you take your business elsewhere. Find a dealership who gives you at least a 7 day buy back guarantee so they have skin in the game and want to do right by those who patronize them. Want to see pictures of the leak? Made an appointment for a simple oil change and tire rotation, I arrived as scheduled, two hours and twenty five minutes later I received my keys along with a simple sorry. There were no updates during rotation, I arrived as scheduled, two hours and twenty five minutes later I received my keys along with a simple sorry. There were no updates during my wait on the progress and I didn’t even receive the usual complimentary car wash. I’ll never go there again. More
