On 7-28-21 at 2 PM I had a scheduled oil change at Lake Chevrolet. This was the second oil change scheduled for my 2021 Chevy Colorado. When I dropped the car off it had 12,519 miles on it. They conducted Chevrolet. This was the second oil change scheduled for my 2021 Chevy Colorado. When I dropped the car off it had 12,519 miles on it. They conducted the oil change. The multi point vehicle inspection report shows everything was checked and OK. As I was exiting the parking lot of the dealership and approximately a block away I saw in my rearview mirror a white cloud of smoke. The white cloud of smoke continued to come out of my exhaust pipe as I was entering onto the freeway. I immediately found the closest exit and returned to the dealership. I went to the service desk and advised Chad at the service desk counter of the white smoke coming from my exhaust. He checked with the technicians/mechanics that were working on my vehicle and told me that the oil gun put two extra quarts of oil in my vehicle. White smoke coming from the exhaust pipe is a sign of a blown head gasket, cracked engine, or damaged Cylinder. The mileage on my vehicle when I returned it to the dealership was 12,525 miles. Chad at the service desk gave me a loaner car for the evening. On 7-29-21 at about 1pm I received a call from the service department advising that my truck was ready for pick up. I return the loaner vehicle. And was given the keys to my truck. Chad verbally told me that everything was taken care of and that it was documented about what happened in the computer system. When I ask for a print out copy of what was documented he had began to type on the computer “customer states oil leaking, advise caused by verified concern inspected and found oil present into airbox -cleaned airbox and systems attached and replaced air filter. Performed extended Test Drive - all OK now.” I can see that these are just notes taken by a service person but I became very concerned that he did not type any of this information in until I was asking for a print out showing documentation that too much oil was put in my vehicle while being serviced at the dealership. Also noting on the print out where it shows the mileage and drop off was 12,525 in the mileage when I received my vehicle on 7-29-21 the mileage showed 12,530 miles. Is 5 miles considered an extended test drive???That concerns me as well as the strong smell of oil that has replaced the new car smell in my seven month old vehicle. After questioning Chad about his notes he referred me to the customer service manager Nick who listened to my concerns but did not add any further notes or documentation. He only provided me with a verbal account of what they did to my car and that if I had any problems just come back and they would take care of it. My concern is that without any written documentation there is no accountability for the dealership /mechanic/technician filling 2 extra quarts of oil in my vehicle and causing instant mechanical issues and possible premature failure to my vehicle. I purchased this vehicle at this dealership and have brought it back for service because I trusted this dealership. This experience has questioned my trust in this dealerships honesty and Quality of service. The out right lie at the service counter of it being documented and catching him in a lie as he typed in the documentation before printing it out to me is ridiculous. Since I have picked the vehicle up I have had to drive around with the windows down all day attempting to get the smell of oil out of the interior of the vehicle. On the oil change print out which I paid $77.27 for it shows that I paid $3.29 for hazardous material charge meaning the oil that I smell in my car now is hazardous materials. This is not how a customer should be treated who has invested a lot of money in a vehicle. I should not have had to pay for this oil change. The loaner car I was given was a downgrade from what I need for my daily driving tasks “my 2021 Chevy Colorado” I was given a 2018. Chevy Traverse. No consideration was given to my needs after your dealerships negligence took my truck away from me for 24 hours. They never documented the white smoke coming from my exhaust which I have video of. The outright lie of it being documented and him typing in when I asked for a print out is incorrect. I never stated anything about oil leaking I was just mentioning the tremendous smoke coming from my exhaust that covered three lanes of traffic behind me. I look forward to hearing from you as how to resolve this incident. More
