Terrible service department The “MOST RECENT” bad experience with the Galesburg Toyota service department: Brought my Tacoma in for a bad chirping noise when engine was cold in The “MOST RECENT” bad experience with the Galesburg Toyota service department: Brought my Tacoma in for a bad chirping noise when engine was cold in October. Was told the belt and tension was fine and to bring it back when the weather was colder and leave it overnight so they could hear the noise. Brought it back in January with videos of the noise which I was hearing every morning. They kept my truck and couldn’t hear the sound, but said it was most likely the belt and tensioner. Service manager said they had to order a tensioner. They had my truck for 3 days and I was told they replaced the tensioner and belt. Found out later they only changed the belt. Had truck for 3 days- didn’t do the work they said they were doing because (per service manager) no one wants to work & his work force sucks but he can’t fire everyone- 3 days to change a belt? (something I could have done myself) and overcharged me for the labor. At least the service manager is honest? I am seriously considering getting a new GMC or Chevrolet just so I never have to step into that service department again. Like I said this is only the latest bad experience with their service department. I’ve had issues getting warranty work done (door seals). They also botched my 30,000 mile service. Told me 3 of my spark plugs were wrong (Toyota uses two different brands in Tacomas, Denzo and NGK) check engine light came on and engine was sputtering before I got to 2nd stoplight because they failed to reattach vacuum lines. More
