I have always had trouble with Hyundai dealerships, but this one has been particularly awful. The dealer has had my car in service for two weeks now and nothing has gotten done! My advisor doesn't answer calls, kept forgetting my requests for more info, didn't call me with updates, couldn't answer my questions, and he couldn't even spell my name even though the paperwork in front of him had my name clearly spelled out. Their technicians were also lazy with their check up on my car. They quoted me FIVE THOUSAND dollars worth of repairs. Some of those repairs I had already done within the last year. So when I asked what bigger issues could be causing these repairs yet again, my advisor stammered and said "oh we didn't actually find these issues with your car, that's just standard for your mileage." Why am I paying for an inspection if they aren't actually inspecting my car? Needless to say, when my advisor finally DOES answer my calls, I will be retrieving my car, and never going back to this location again. More
AVOID this dealership & service center - they sold us a new 2021 Sonata with manufacturer defects and are now refusing to honor their warranty coverage to repair. We purchased the Sonata from them back in April and when we brought it in for our first complimentary service the technician let us know that a parking sensor on the front bumper was loose and pointing inward. We had barely over 4k miles on the car with no incidents so this was surprising to hear. Fortunately, we took pictures of the car before we drove off the lot and noticed the sensor was clearly indented and loose in these pictures. We showed the technician, he agreed and scheduled an appointment to repair under the impression this would be covered under warranty. Flash forward to today when we take it in for our maintenance appointment and the first thing we are told is it will cost us ~$400 just for them to provide an estimate on the work. I asked to talk to a manager and they struggled for 10+ minutes to locate any sales manager before another man, not even sure he was a sales manager, said he was ready to review the damages with us. The guy walked us out to the car and stated "The same thing happened to my car" (yeah right) and claimed that like him - we must have hit a curb to cause the damage. When we showed him the images attached here, he responded "so what that was 8 months ago. There's nothing I can do for you now." The guy was a total jerk - so despite having to take time off work just to bring the car in we just decided to leave and escalate to the hopefully more competent folks at Hyundai corporate. I'll update this review if the issue is resolved, but otherwise strongly suggest going to another dealership if not another car manufacturer. More
I had an 11:00 am appointment for a recall-repair. I showed up on time, but the "appointment" turned out to be a line of cars that extended out into the street. I waited forty minutes before I was given a number, and was then told to wait for someone to come with paperwork. Over the course of the next hour, I asked twice if it was okay to leave my car, but I was told to wait with my car until the paperwork was done. One hour and forty-five minutes had passed since I arrived for my 11:00 am appointment, and I still hadn't been approached for any documentation. At that point, I was the only person outside in the heat with their car, which didn't have any functioning A/C. I walked back inside, gave them my number they had given me over an hour before, and told them I was leaving. Magically, it just so happened that it was now my turn. I walked out. I had already waited close to two hours to even begin the process of checking in, and I wasn't going to sit around to see how long the repair itself would take. I now have to schedule another recall-repair and hope that the next dealership has actual appointments instead of telling everyone to get in line to be forgotten. More
Overall experience with Kearny Mesa Hyundai is actually 0 out of 5. I've had the worse experiences with this dealership since June 2020 when I first sought to purchase a Genesis G70 3.3T. I called to ask if out of 5. I've had the worse experiences with this dealership since June 2020 when I first sought to purchase a Genesis G70 3.3T. I called to ask if the dealership had any G70s with the 3.3T and out the gate the dealership was extremely unprofessional. Not only did they not have the vehicle, but the proceeded to tell me that none of the dealerships within 50 miles had the vehicle and I'd be better off just purchasing the 2.0T model. Immediately afterwards, I called the Genesis dealership in Carlsbad and they informed me that they had a wide selection of the G70 3.3T models, so I decided to lease from there. The first time my vehicle was due for routine maintenance, I took my vehicle to Kearny Mesa to be serviced. In my lease agreement, Genesis covers the basic maintenance cost and is supposed to include their complimentary service of cleaning the vehicle as well. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, the dealership did not perform the services that were included in my lease agreement. The excuse that I received was, "We could not complete the complimentary service because we were busy." The second time I brought my vehicle in, the story didn't change. Not only were they "too busy" to complete the complimentary service, but my vehicle received "lot damage" from one of the serviceman backing another vehicle into my car. At this point, I told them to fix my vehicle and to complete the complimentary service that was agreed upon in my lease. When I returned to pick up my vehicle, my G70 looked like it was sprayed with a waterhose and left to dry in the sun. The car wash was terrible! The third and final time, my vehicle was towed into the dealership due to starter issues. I read a few online reviews of people who had similar issues and the issue typically involved the battery. The dealership told me that I would receive daily updates on my vehicles status. Not only did I not receive these updates, but my car sat in Kearny Mesa's parking lot for 2 weeks without being touched. The issue got so bad, that I contacted Genesis Headquarters to open a case. The case manager was able to get my vehicle towed to Escondido where they were able to find the issue the same day and get parts on order to fix the faulty starter. This dealership is extremely unprofessional and lacks basic knowledge on its vehicles. When my vehicle was being serviced, they were not even aware that the vehicle came with different sized tires and they accused me of putting aftermarket tires on the vehicle. Additionally, they are very bad at answering the customer service lines, and when they do answer, NO ONE seems to be able to help. I was transferred 3 times and still did not receive the help that I was looking for. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BRINGING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS LOCATION! More

They then told me that actually they would have to cancel my appointment because apparently inspections can’t be done on a Saturday (of course this isn’t mentioned anywhere online) and I had I not called ahead of time I would have driven all the way to the dealership before I was informed. Pretty disappointing no one looked over my appointment and could make this realization for a full two weeks and now the earliest I can apparently get in is mid-September. Won’t be coming back here in the future. More

Every question was answered even if the same questions made other dealerships uncomfortable. I wholeheartedly felt comfortable and would send friends and family to this man for a car purchase. Jay (finance) gave much the same feel. I immediately felt welcomed and was presented information openly. He was clear and direct about what he could and could not do when finishing the backroom part of the sale. More
I made a 9:00 appointment two weeks in advance. They gave no instructions on what to do or who to see, so I went up and asked the front service desk. The person who my appointment was with is out, and it’s n no instructions on what to do or who to see, so I went up and asked the front service desk. The person who my appointment was with is out, and it’s now an hour later and I’ve been told ‘we’ll be with you in a moment’ about 15 times. They now told me my appointment was rescheduled for 11:20, so now I’ll have to wait 5 hours for a 2 hour process which I had an appointment for. Horrible service, would recommend going anywhere else if possible. More
Purchased our dream outback with the help of Mo and Jimmy "Pineapple." We had a very peasant experience. Special kudos to Jimmy for making us laugh the entire time we were sitting in his office. It was the best experience we had while signing loan documents. Hands down. Today I bought my 4th Hyundai vehicle at Kearney Mesa Hyundai. Now this is normally not my go to location. Ive bought all my cars in the past from national city mile of cars. I called and right away I knew and could feel I was going to walk out with a car the same day! Jay and Jimmy helped me throughout the whole process and they both went above and beyond! Had I known and had this same exact experience in the past, I would of came here to begin with! They are so attentive to my needs and wants. They listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted and more! Everyone knows buying a car can be stressful sometimes, but not here. I was in and out. Within a couple hours! The car I drove home makes me feel like a million bucks! They left it so squeaky clean I could see myself in the cars reflection! I 100% recommend this location and this location only! Hands down most efficient and friendly Hyundai I've ever been too. Thanks again for everything. For all the team and to jay and Jimmy to make this happen. More
