I ended up having to do most of my negotiation via text because I was out of town and I knew the vehicle I was seeking wouldn't be around long. We were able to set up and appointment and after test driving the truck the manager insisted on preforming a safety check before he would allow me to drive it off the lot (the truck was a recent trade and they hadn't had time to preform the inspection prior to my test drive). Upon inspection they discovered that the truck needed new brake pads all the way around. Cherokee preformed all the work in a timely manner and at no charge! In addition, we had already settled on a price that was nearly $2,500 below KBB and there were no hidden fees attached. The price we settled on was truly they price that I paid. I had to drive 2.5 hours to deal with Jon at Cherokee and I'd gladly do it again. More

I was just looking to see what kind of deals were out there. I had spent a number of hours on the www. to check cars and finally settled on the Sonata Limited Hybrid. I had visited two other Huyndai dealers one in Duluth and one in Chamblee and was NOT impressed with the integrity of the sales people and particularly the sales managers. I just felt they didn't care about what I was saying and what I wanted. My visit to the Cherokee dealership changed ALL THAT. Jon Vaccaro is awesome, listening to what I WAS SAYING, did NOT sell me but just told me about the car and the dealership. I was NOT going to trade my vehicle but they treated me fairly and gave me an honest trade in value and I BOUGHT. Jonathan Conway (finance manager) was very helpful and very patient walking through some unusual credit issues but together Jon and Johathan had me in my car and down the road in record time. I would HIGHLY recommend this team and this dealership. If you like honesty, integrity and a no pressure sale approach you'd do well to call John and he WILL gain your confidence and your business. Please see our separate 5-Star review of his efforts. This review is more about the methods and manner in which the dealership processed our transaction. 1. Jon Vaccaro and I worked out the terms of the deal via email. His manager told him we had to come in that day or the offer would be rescinded. The offer was as follows: "Ok, if you come tonight you have a deal. $6,500 down. $1,500 for the trade. $18,300 from your loan. $26,300. The deal is good for tonight only." It is worth noting that we entered the dealership being pre-approved for a loan through our credit union at a very fair rate. 2. We went out to look at the vehicle and empty out the contents of our trade -in. The loan manager, Jonathan, was clearly agitated that we were clearing out our old vehicle before we went into financing, resulting in his having to stay late. We would have arrived earlier but traffic on a rainy Friday night going northbound was hideous so we waiting until it started moving again, leaving home at about 6:30 (they closed at 9:00 PM). 3. Once we sat at the finance desk, Jonathan the Finance Manager, told us that he could get us a better rate on a loan if we would give him a chance. He said that he could get us a lower rate by using his financing source, a nationally recognized bank. We agreed to let him pull our credit and try. Next thing we know, he got us a lower rate, then he got up and left us in his office without explanation. Jon Vaccaro, our salesperson returned, and told us he made an error in our paperwork and that his manager would not honor our above agreement. Now before you go blaming Jon Vaccaro, you must understand the game. This is what I consider a classic "claw back" maneuver. Instead of us being sold the vehicle at the $18,300 price we agreed upon, we had to renegotiate the deal in the finance office to $18,700 to get the dealership to approve it. What did that mean? It meant we didn't save a dime using their finance company, but we did walk out with exactly the same payment we would have had had we used our own bank loan, so we lost nothing. My issue with this is that the managers at Cherokee Hyundai took a wonderful buying experience and pretty much ruined the mood of it with their heavy handed tactics in an effort to enrich themselves, in my opinion, unethically. They placed our salesperson in an untenable position of having to defend their "claw back" through self-deprecation and left us feeling as if this car dealership, like so many others, lacks the ethics standards most Americans live by. All in all, I would still recommend this dealership. It is better than the others we visited. That being said, watch your back in finance. 5/19/2014: Update- I no longer recommend this dealership do to what I believe to be intellectual dishonesty on the part of one of their managers, Scott Morris who just wrote to me the following: "My name is Scott Morris and I am one of the Sales Managers here at Cherokee Hyundai of Kennesaw. I feel the need to respond to your dealerater.com comments that are simply not the facts. First of all this is my profession and I do not play games, nor do I choose to participate in your so called "claw back" tactics. Unfortunately what happened in your case was simply a new salesperson not knowing what either you meant by the numbers you gave him or he did not portray those numbers to me correctly. Jon (who by the way is going to be a great salesman with just a little more training) told me you wanted to buy the car for 26300 out the door and you wanted 1500 for your trade. When working a car deal out the door means including everything. Therefore, I included your trade of 1500 to get there. At no point in any conversation did 18300 come up. If that was the case I would have said there is no way possible. As far as your comment about ethics that most Americans live by this is the exact reason I sent Jon in to the finance office to explain his mistake to you. The way I was brought up if you make a mistake you be man enough to admit it. As Manager of the store it is my job to stand behind my employees and ultimately sell the car if it makes sense. I will be perfectly honest with you. The deal that we made did not make sense but, I took several things into consideration when I decided to take the deal. First was I simply should have talked to you directly about the offer you made. Second, I should have trained Jon a little better about what "out the door" means. Last, I took your time and willingness to drive to our dealership into consideration. Thank you for you time and understanding, Scott Morris" Please note that the quote above stating that my loan amount was denoted by his representative as $18,300, yet he calls out my manhood because he REFUSED to honor the deal his salesman made with me via email. I was upfront about what I was willing to pay. The vehicle I purchased was listed on the Internet at $25,491, so do you think it was rediculous to offer $26,300 for the vehicle with taxes, tags, and title? I didn't. He admits to sending the poor salesman to do what he should have done. Man up? If anyone needed to man up, it was Scott Morris. I honored my end of the deal. In fact, I put up another $400 to make the deal go through. The owners of this dealership need to address this insulting tone coming from their managers if they intend to keep their Hyundai dealership. More

I returned due to the positive experience when I bought a 2012 Sonata, and my recent experience was even better. My initial contact was with the General Manager, Rob Manohar, to discuss my interest in trading for a 2014 model. When I arrived at the dealership Rob had all paperwork completed and all that remained was for me to select a car. Nic Johnson assisted me, and I was able to choose the perfect car at a price significantly better than other dealer quotes. I highly recommend this dealership and these two gentlemen. Based on my experience, my son will most likely purchase and/or lease 2 new vehicles from Cherokee Hyundai in the coming months. More

First Car Purchase Why straight fives? Because this dealership (and Jonathon Vaccaro) are totally awesome. I went in after having two bad experiences (one at Carmax and Why straight fives? Because this dealership (and Jonathon Vaccaro) are totally awesome. I went in after having two bad experiences (one at Carmax and one at Nissan) and ended up not only looking at an awesome car, but purchasing said car. This is the first time I've ever bought a car, let alone gotten financing for one and Jonathon put me in the car I only *dreamed* of purchasing because I thought it was way out of my price range. I didn't just buy my first car, I bought the first car that was comfortable to ME and something I'm going to love driving for years to come. The peace of mind that comes with the 2014 Hyundai Accent I purchased was only an added bonus to the fact I love it. Thank you guys so much!!!!!!! <3 More
