We found a used 2016 Mazda CX-5 and contacted Huntington Beach Mazda to discuss a purchase. We live in Murrieta, about 90 minutes away. Joe contacted us, sent us a video of the car, and we asked for a modes Beach Mazda to discuss a purchase. We live in Murrieta, about 90 minutes away. Joe contacted us, sent us a video of the car, and we asked for a modest discount on the sale price which was accepted. We informed Joe we were paying cash, and he informed us that someone else has test driven the car that day and they were returning the next day. I asked him if we could pay immediately by check or credit card only to be told no and/or he would get back to us; credit cards are limited to $3000 apparently. This was about 5PM, so getting to Huntington Beach from Murrieta that evening would have been challenging. We didn't hear back from him until late in the evening, where we were told the car had been sold. I'm not sure about dealership rules or technology, but I'm sure my check would have no problems if they validated it. I was prepared to pay immediately and pick up the next day. I have no idea how they tell Amex Black owners they can't buy a car. Anyhow, I think it was all a poor excuse to force the other party to pay a higher price or pay by financing. Not impressed. More
