I was in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. The gentleman helped me quickly. There was another issue I wasn’t there for, but mentioned it and he said they were going to look at it. Dishonest is the best word I can think of. Did not disclose the price of the service. Original problem still exists after I paid over $500. Service writer was very warm and welcoming and took care of all of my service needs. He came out and explained the issue with my tire leak and that parts were on back order. Honda of Kenosha pretty much fulfilled all the stereotypes of being belittled and taken advantage of by a mechanic. My mechanic was emotional and defensive when I tried to explain the full details of my car issues on the phone. Telling me I “had him over a barrel” when I explained that hearing my “driving habits” isn’t a sufficient answer for the problems I’m having with my vehicle. I had been in to Honda of Kenosha last year with the same problem, paid the diagnostic fee and was told that I needed to buy an old car to fix the problem. I have driven more this year than ever, and was not willing to hear that my driving habits are again the reason for a 2014 car (with less than 51,000 miles) not starting. He was unprofessional, often spoke down to me, and even laughed robustly down the phone to me for misspeaking during one of our conversations. Not only was it embarrassing, it was highly inappropriate. I sent him a checklist of things to look for (after finding online it’s a known issue for Honda CRVs to not start) and told him I wanted him to find whatever the parasitic drain was in my vehicle. He found that it could be the after market remote starter- and wanted to charge me over $300 to remove it from my car on top of the diagnostic fee. (Something that Kenosha Audio Connection charged me a grand total of $70 to do.) He also pushed me to get new brake pads and wanted to charge me an ridiculous amount to do the work. I have since called local mechanics for quotes and every single one would charge me less than half to do the same job. I will never return to Honda of Kenosha again. I’ve been through 3 batteries in 4 years and been told I need to buy a 1990’s vehicle (due to my driving habits) to have a reliable car. It’s 2020... and there’s zero room to be belittled by mechanics when within 30 mins of online research I’m able to see I’m being lied to and taken advantage of. More
