Tried to buy a Toyota Avalon via the internet as I live out of state. They FedExed paperwork to me which I promptly signed and FedExed back according to their instructions. In doing so I noticed that they did not sign anything. They never replied. It took me a while to get them to admit they sold the car after they received my paperwork, mostly likely to someone who paid more. By not signing the paperwork they kept their options open to sell me out. They made me a deal under false pretenses. I would not trust them much less take out financing through them as they employ unethical tactics that are only to their advantage. Do not take any of their salesmen or finance office people at their word. They are not good for it. More
Will Have to Skip These Folks on My Next Internet Buy I purchase a vehicle over the Internet every year or so. This is around my 10th purchase since around 2006. I have to say this was not my worst experi I purchase a vehicle over the Internet every year or so. This is around my 10th purchase since around 2006. I have to say this was not my worst experience but was far from my best. My salesperson was James C. He answered the initial email inquiry but then handed me over to his sales manager, David W. and then James was MIA afterwards for the entire transaction. I would send emails or leave messages on his line to NO RESPONSE. When I got frustrated and included David on the note, he still didn't respond, David would. I have to say, David saved this transaction cause it was not the best deal available to me but I tend to be faithful once I commit to do something. In any event, Hendrick arranged transportation which saved me from having to contact my regular transport broker (which wouldn't have been a big deal). It took about 3-4 days for the car to get from KS to AZ when it was eventually picked up over a week later. The company that did the transport was professional. I had finally got a copy of the bill of lading prior to the arrival after repeated requests (David had to step in again and send it) and everything matched up closely on arrival. The car however arrived with several issues that were not noted on the online listing or in any of the 40+ pics that were shown. I documented each and notified David from a broken antenna to a small star crack in the windshield to a dent on the roof. It was well over $1,000 in issues if I had it professionally taken care of. I was able to get an interior issue resolved under warranty after debating a bit with the local Buick dealer to cover it, two others I found replacement items on Amazon at a discount, one item I got my insurance to cover, and the last (roof dent) I decided to just leave it as is since the damage was not easily visible. This took over a week to resolve with me running around town and I was told by David I would get reimbursed for whatever it took. As a result, I tried to be as economical as possible. I requested a $50 reimbursement for parts only (not my time) and as of today I am still waiting on the check in the mail - UPDATE: $50 check received as of 5/12. It was dated 5/7 and postmarked 5/9. I try to keep a list of dealers that I would consider for future online purchases. Hendrick Toyota-Merriam is currently NOT on that list! I did read a lot of poor reviews right here on DealerRater.com prior to my purchase but sometimes I figure since my bar tends to be low (I am pretty laid back), it might be OK for me. Several reviews mentioned the Finance Manager, John N. negatively. He was one of the easiest finance guys I've ever worked with on or offline. I would work with him again in a snap. Very professional and utilized docusign which made the paperwork for an online buy such a breeze! He was also very responsive both via email and phone. That aspect was definitely a 5* experience and probably why I didn't just abort the deal. David did an OK job salvaging the deal from the sales end and was probably a 3.5* overall. I understand as a manager he has a lot on his plate and that was factored in my interaction with him. James would be 1* (negative if I could). Averaging the three yields the 3* overall rating. All in all, the Enclave I purchased is working well and after a good detailing to get a musky smell and animal hair from the interior, I am now pleased with it. More

I deal with Donnie and his sales Manager, I knew what I wanted to pay, gave them my thoughts and they gave me a price well under KBB fair value. ]I have had absolutely no issues with the service department, the first two years were on Toyota and my last oil change I provided the oil and filter, there cost to change was $22. John Nelson was told repeatedly that I did not want to finance through him, that I already had financing. He told me to sign his financing page because it would save me time and that it's the same amount of money. After declining him repeatedly he was outright rude including saying that he doesn't like to work for free. Disappointing that someone in customer service would treat people this way. More
(Hybrid) Buyers Beware - They Know What You Don't Know $$$ Less than a year ago, we financed a used Prius for our high school daughter at a PREMIUM price from Hendrick Toyota in Merriam. Just eleven months lat Less than a year ago, we financed a used Prius for our high school daughter at a PREMIUM price from Hendrick Toyota in Merriam. Just eleven months later, we are upside down in the loan (by A LOT) because the car was on its last leg with the main hybrid battery--the life of which is a KNOWN issue to any Toyota dealer--and here we are with a THREE THOUSAND DOLLAR estimate. WITH the battery, the trade-in value is $2,800. We are the foolish owners of a Toyota paperweight that we still owe $5000 for. Don't ever buy a used hybrid from Hendrick (or anything else for that matter). According to their own service department, "budget" used cars from Hendrick come through the service department regularly with very unhappy customers who feel duped. You'd do just as well buying a used car from a road-side double-wide trailer dealer--who just may be more honest and respectful. Their Service Department suggested we talk to the Sales Manager to see if they would be willing, in an act of Goodwill, to assist us. After the final round of passing the buck, their General Sales Manager Rob Biehl laid the blame squarely on us, claiming they did us a favor by not charging what others may charge for the repair. When we countered, he said he had absolutely nothing to offer, turned his back, and walked away. It seems to me that Hendrick Toyota in Merriam has developed a very lucrative revenue model for used cars--sell them and wait for the big repair payday that will come inevitably, and soon. And especially, if they see a customer (SUCKER) coming that has no prior experience or expectations of a used hybrid. More

I reached out to dealer multiple times over a period of 4 weeks to find out more information and never really received a straight answer as to why the delay and was I going to receive a car similar to what was ordered. Dealer finally said car wasn't the same as agreed to and agreed to refund my deposit but that has still not yet shown in my account. Dealer claimed no others like it in the region but search showed 3 in neighboring state were available. Horrible service, no communication, and no delivery (of car and deposit yet). Dissappointing as we have purchased other cars at other Hendrick dealers. More

I will never use them again because of the brake job they did on my 2009 tacoma that was purchased from them new. When I picked it up after they were done it was 50 dollars more than the quote. And I found out that they had used cheap NAPA parts not the Toyota parts that I was told they were going to use. The NAPA parts cost less than half of the Toyota parts. But my price for the brake job did not go down with the cheaped parts. They should have said they were going to use cheaper parts that what was quoted. More
Finance person very unprofessional My wife and I went in about 2 weeks ago now to buy a new van. The sales process took about 5 hours total and was as any car sale is: a back and forth My wife and I went in about 2 weeks ago now to buy a new van. The sales process took about 5 hours total and was as any car sale is: a back and forth tug-o-war on the price of the car vs the trade in value etc. That part I did not mind, since all dealerships are ultimately trying to make money. What I did find extremely unprofessional however was the finance portion of the process, in which I had to tell the finance guy John, upwards of 6 times I was NOT interested in the extended warranty package, to the point where I had to raise my voice to him, to which he continued to arrogantly bring back the warranty 2 more times, so 8 total. If I am spending upwards of 40-50k on a car, the last thing I want to do is have some paper pusher question why I am refusing his OPTIONAL service, for my new vehicle. Based on that experience with John I would not recommend this dealership because I would hate to see anyone else be disrespected in that manner. I have left at least 3 messages for the GM and the head of customer relations and have yet to receive a call back to discuss my experience. With that being said, I probably will not service my vehicle there either since they clearly do not value client, and are not looking to keep their buyers happy and coming back. More
