Overall experience at Gurnee VW was a -1 star rating. First we searched online to find the 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport at the Gurnee VW dealership and online photos and descriptions were not ac rating. First we searched online to find the 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport at the Gurnee VW dealership and online photos and descriptions were not accurately depicted. The online photo and description stated a Rover Package which included a roof rack and basket when we arrived to drive the vehicle the rack was removed and sales staff stated they sold it to another customer. I had called to make an appointment to test drive the vehicle and received a call from Gurnee VW dealership stating I should place a down payment to hold the vehicle. I was told that this would make the purchasing experience easy and fast. So I placed a $500 down payment and gave them my personal and trade-in information. Consequently, we were at the dealership for over 5 hours. The sales staff that contacted me didn’t even introduce herself or make an effort to talk to us. Since we had an appointment I would have thought the vehicle would have been cleaned and ready to test drive but it was still in the showroom blocked by other vehicles. No where online description did it state that the vehicle was a demo and had 1281 miles on it. The sales negotiating was very confusing and drawn out. Had to ask for floor mats which stated on the MSRP sticker they were included but not in the vehicle. After we stated that we would purchase the vehicle, they still didn’t clean inside or outside. Found liquor receipt in back hatch. The rear windows had smear marks on the them. So once in the finance department, I was badgered to purchase an extended warranty. A corporate finance gentleman and dealership finance staff pressured me into warranty packages even though I said “no thank you”. I feel I was going to get talked out of purchasing the vehicle. They used tactics like, “Do you know how much a head light costs? $1400 for one. A navigation CPU fails often costing $1000s to repair”. Not very reassuring when purchasing a new car. Pay attention to details. (ie. no soap in the men's restroom and watch several staff go in and out of restroom.) Make sure your guests are comfortable if the wait will be long. This was very frustrating after being reassured giving my information over the phone would make the purchase experience smooth and fast. This process took over 5 hours. We bought a new car that was used and not cleaned properly (Crumbs, receipt, dog nose smudges on windows). My expectation, since the Staff had plenty of time to detail the car that it would have been done. More
