Can you say bait and switch. Got a price on the web, dealt for 1 1/2 hours with the salesperson, she went to the Sales Manager who added $600 to the cost of the car for dealer installed extras I never a dealt for 1 1/2 hours with the salesperson, she went to the Sales Manager who added $600 to the cost of the car for dealer installed extras I never asked for. He was talked down to $300 by Sandy. After I refused and I asked for the car I was quote at the quoted price he stated "the internet pricing is just to get you in". There was now way to purchase a car at the quoted price. I made use of the door in the eit direction. THE DEALERSHIP IS KNOWN FOR THIS PRACTICE! STAY VERY FAR AWAY! More
We bought a 2005 Honda Accord (Used) from Gerald Subaru. We negotiated a price prior to tax. We had some questions prior to going into the business office of titling. Our salesman told us to ask Andre whe We negotiated a price prior to tax. We had some questions prior to going into the business office of titling. Our salesman told us to ask Andre when we go into the office. When we went into the office, he stated we negotiated a out the door deal and not pre-tax. So the final price was as is on Chicago Tax rate, and not the naperville tax rate 2.5% less. They pocketed the 2.5%. Andre did'nt even attempt to shake our hand after the sell, I will definetly not go there again. Very poor customer service. More
I bought my new Outback on 9.10.10, and can say that the service was very good, and there was very little pressure to buy something I didnt want. The price was excellent, the financing a breeze to walk thr service was very good, and there was very little pressure to buy something I didnt want. The price was excellent, the financing a breeze to walk through. All questions were answered, and the process was pretty painless. Buying a car is often an unpleasant experience, and one where I walk away thinking: 'what just happened?' I used a not-for-profit group called CarBargains to negotiate prices. Joe honored that, and really was friendly, and helpful. This is my second Outback (200K plus on the old one), and fourth new auto buying experience. I'd say this was the best new car buying experience Ive had. I'd encourage customers to do your homework, ask lots of questions, and do the math ahead of time. I'll shop at Gerald again the next time around. More
My husband and I picked up our 2011 Subaru Outback (absolutely awesome car!) from Gerald of Naperville and we cannot warn people enough about staying away from this dealership. We ordered our Subaru a (absolutely awesome car!) from Gerald of Naperville and we cannot warn people enough about staying away from this dealership. We ordered our Subaru and had to wait about 2 months for it to arrive, which was expected. What we didn't expect, was to have the price jump up $3000 from the MSRP price we had been promised by our salesman. When we asked for an explanation, the Manager was completely useless and couldn't offer any input, nor would he do any negotiating for the price. He didn't even have the decency to come and talk to us in person. Instead, he sent a sales person to tell us the awful news. He relayed a message through the sales person that he could sell the car without any problem and then we'd be out the $1000 we had to put down to order the car! What a perfect example of not caring about your customers or their business!!! Needless to say, we will NEVER be a customer of Gerald Subaru ever again. And that doesn't even include our complaints about the slow service, lies about financing deals, and other incompetency of the management staff. It was, by far, the WORST experience I have ever had buying a car. With so many Subaru dealerships in the Chicago land area, we highly recommend taking your business to one that's honest and consumer-focused! Gerald Subaru of Naperville and its management couldn't care any less than they do about the people buying cars, or the way they are treated! More
An absolutely positive buying experience. No pressure or unnecessary tricks typically used by many auto dealers. Great advice from sales staff which resulted in the acquisition of a much better car and one unnecessary tricks typically used by many auto dealers. Great advice from sales staff which resulted in the acquisition of a much better car and one that I will be much happier with. Will definitely recommend to friends and colleagues. I was even treated to a very nice lunch while purchasing the Subary Legacy. More
The Old Bait and Switch. My Wife and I ordered a 2011 Outback from this dealer, and the experience was great up until we came in to pick it up. From the get go I wanted to talk total price with the sale Outback from this dealer, and the experience was great up until we came in to pick it up. From the get go I wanted to talk total price with the sales personal, and they said that since its an order we would do that when the car came in. I was told a month and a half later that the car came in, and at that time I requested that the sales personal tell me the MSRP + the rest of the costs that get put on the purchase (title, destination charge what not). I was given a "total price" and then planned a day to pick up the car. The day came, and my wife and I headed in to make the purchase. When we got there we were told that our original sales person did not work there any longer (fine whatever), and that what was given to me as the MSRP/total price, was what they knew as the agreed upon price. That was not the case. Let’s say the purchase process started off way on the wrong foot. Given this mix up, my wife and I understood that this could happen and took it in stride. Then in the finance stage signing off on the purchase we noted that we have good credit, and we could get the 2.9% APR, I mentioned that in the deal stage of the purchase and had been given that expectation. When inquired about the APR with the finance personal he had to search in the contract, and then informed us that we would get a higher rate of 3.9% and that there was nothing he could do about that. Thats fine if that is our rate, but why were we led to believe we would get the 2.9% in the first place. In all I can't say much bad about the car, but the process to get the car, I can say this. STAY AWAY, Go anywhere else, do not buy from Gerald Subaru of Naperville. I would rather drive farther, and pay more to a honest dealer. More
The salesman answered all questions asked. After purchasing, I found some promises are not true, such as free car wash in service dept. Indeed, you must have service then get car-wash. They are purchasing, I found some promises are not true, such as free car wash in service dept. Indeed, you must have service then get car-wash. They are friendly before the deal and not-friendly at all after the deal. I have been happy buyer with local Dodge, Honda, and Toyota dealers. It is the first time for me so disappointed with this Subaru/Kia dealer. More
Horrible. It took two weeks for a reponse even though we have corporate discount linked to their dealership. Asked if she can beat price of another dealer and forward her the email from the dealer as pr have corporate discount linked to their dealership. Asked if she can beat price of another dealer and forward her the email from the dealer as prove, she said, "you must be buying these in bulk for that price". More
Agreed on a price with my options for a new Subaru on the phone, after some back and forth. Drove an hour to the dealership, and was told "big" boss couldn't do the deal. It was "only" $52 over, so decided t phone, after some back and forth. Drove an hour to the dealership, and was told "big" boss couldn't do the deal. It was "only" $52 over, so decided to go ahead anyway. Looked over the inexplicable "contract." It basically says car make and model, but didn't have most of the other features listed (finance person said they do everything electronically, and "look at the car sticker," which was in the shop). And mysteriously, there was one other line item for $600, for a feature we had agreed upon. If I hadn't been paying attention, I wouldn't have noticed, since there was never any explanation. And then "big" boss said we should be pay extra there for customer service. As my husband put it, seriously? This is customer service? GET IT IN WRITING FROM THEM, AND DEFINITELY READ EVERYTHING before dealing with this shady place. More
