We are disappointed to read your recent experience with us was not to your liking. After your initial review, our service manager made multiple attempts to contact you to remedy the situation with you personally, but as of this writing we have yet to receive a response from you. The service employee who you worked with is also our dealership warranty administrator and, as such, is fully aware of Volkswagen’s warranty rules. As you came in asking for an engine code diagnostic service to be performed under warranty she was simply following Volkswagen’s stated guidelines. Under Volkswagen’s rules, an engine code diagnostic service cannot be covered under warranty unless 1) the engine light is on and 2) a code is available to be pulled from the system. As you clearly stated, your engine light was not on at the time we went to perform the diagnostic service. Regardless of what occurred, our dealership absorbed the cost of this service (even though it was not covered under warranty) as goodwill gesture to keep you as a satisfied customer. At Volkswagen Reading, our goal is to always provide customers with a transparent vehicle sales and service process with excellent customer service. We hope that we can do better next time.
