The service department attempted to get me and Chrysler to pay thousands for unnecessary work when simple tire balancing corrected the problem. I brought my 2018 CPO Wrangler JLU to Freehold Chrysler Je to pay thousands for unnecessary work when simple tire balancing corrected the problem. I brought my 2018 CPO Wrangler JLU to Freehold Chrysler Jeep for service in early July. The Jeep was vibrating at highway speed since I had the tires rotated in June. The service advisor informed me they had diagnosed the problem as a bad bearing in the rear differential, bad outer steering couplings, and bad alignment. The rear differential work would be covered by the CPO warranty and I’d have to pay the rest. The dealer told me they ordered the parts and I waited for them to arrive. I had trouble getting updates from the dealership on the status of the parts, and I wasn’t comfortable with the diagnosis from the start. This week I took the car to another Jeep dealership and I gave them the paperwork with the diagnosis from Freehold. They determined that the only problem with my Jeep was all four wheels were out of balance. They balanced the wheels and the problem resolved. The rear differential, steering couplings, and alignment checked out fine and needed no work. So, a $70 repair was all that was needed. Needless to say, I’ll never step foot in Freehold Chrysler Jeep again and I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know who owns a Jeep or plans to buy one they should steer clear of the dealership. More
