Well, let’s go back to mid-July. I had brought my 2015 leased Elantra into Action (which I did not purchase from there). While I was waiting for the scheduled maintenance to occur, I began looking at the 2017 Elantras, and even took a brief test drive with BJ Walters. Well as things go, I went ahead and traded the 2015 in for a brand new 2017 model. There was no gun to my head and everyone was pleasant and courteous, making it a great leasing experience. Harry the business manager was a pleasure to work with as was BJ. Due to the suddenness of the purchase, I actually had to come back and pay the balance of the down payment a few days later to complete the transaction. That also went well without any hitches. There were other components to this lease, as buying or leasing a car is never an easy thing, with tons of paperwork, etc. But Harry and BJ again, were a pleasure. They even asked me to write a nice review for them on social media, which I was glad to. So, now fast forward 2 plus months later – I receive a Finance Condition Report from Hyundai Motors saying that I owe an additional $415 based on minor issues with my lease turn in, including a couple of minor dings and a missing key (aka the extra key fob that came with the 2015 vehicle. Well, I studied it thoroughly and recalled a conversation I had with BJ. My wife had the spare key fob and I promised to bring it in as soon as possible which I did and which was documented in a text message conversation between BJ and myself. Sounds like a non-issue, eh? Show my proof to the dealership 2 plus months later that I turned the key in, and they knock $75 off my bill. Well, that’s when the fun started. I promptly called the dealership last Mon, Oct 3, ended up speaking with sales representative, Cush Johnson who promptly told me both BJ and Harry left the same week I leased my new 2017 Elantra (very interesting! sounds like a mystery novel). He told me it would be better if I came into the dealership and speak with Christian – their sales manager. Of course when I came in later in the day, Christian was gone and that’s when the fun began! I spoke with Cush and left him with a copy of the Finance Condition Report and asked if Christian would call me. Sure, sure no problem. Cush promising to take care of everything for me. Well, that wasn’t happening. So I had to come back again. And again, Christian was nowhere to be found. Again, no return call. I let a couple of days go by and spoke with Cush again. Now he’s telling me, they won’t reimburse me until I pay the entire bill first. Now after all of this, would you trust them to reimburse me? I didn’t think so! I requested that Christian call me before 5pm today or I would post this on Facebook. Seems fair enough. Cush starts telling me it’s a Saturday and they’re very busy. I said, “I know it’s Saturday and I know you’re busy. That why I expected Christian to call earlier in the week and not wait until Saturday.” Well, of course, 5pm comes and goes without a call. I was getting so incensed by now that I called back and spoke with Camille at the switchboard, who assured me that “you don’t know me; someone will definitely get back to you before we close at the end of the day at 7pm – I guarantee it.” Sure I told her. Christian will not be calling me and neither will anyone else – which is where Camille gave me the line about not knowing her and how someone would call me back. So, more stress – I will probably now have to call Hyundai headquarters to fight this or leave a message for the owner of Action – Lenny and see where that goes. Can you believe this – all this nonsense for $75?? Was it really worth it for Action Hyundai to ruin a perfectly good relationship and turn what was a wonderful leasing experience into this mess? I didn't think so! :) As promised, let it rip . . . More
