Good morning Juan, I was notified Friday, 5/1/2020 that of all the Service Customers that General Motors surveys we are rated #1 in the nation. I have tried to contact both you and Ms. Gomez via phone and email and have yet to receive any response. I had wanted to discuss the review that Ms. Gomez recently posted recently on Dealer Rater. Juan, I am replying to you since it is your name on the Repair Order and our service department has none of Ms. Gomez's information on record. Her review does not accurately reflect the work we have done on your vehicle and the only time I have spoken to Ms. Gomez was because she did not reach the service department via phone one morning when Jeff was unavailable for a phone call. I was listening as Ms. Gonza described the situation and I wanted to help. She was telling me how she didn't understand how the check engine light was coming back on after having just left our repair facility. While I am not a tech I used an analogy to explain if the symptoms were not actively present we could not repair what we could not see. I apologized for the problem and asked her to bring it back in and said we would take care of it. After a long conversation with Joe Marchbanks, our Service Director I have a better understanding of the situation dealing with your Corvette. 1. We were initially working on your Corvette for Corvette Warehouse and they paid for all of the charges. When you picked up the car we had not completed diagnostics but we were told you would bring your car back in at a later time. 2. While diagnosing your Corvette we replaced the CCM (chassis control module) and 3 of the exhaust diverter valves. The problem area is the right or passenger side diverter. We installed and tested 3 diverter valves and each one failed and was destroyed at a cost of around $800. We did not charge anyone for these. 3. We had a tech work for over 80 hours running new wiring, replacing and swapping parts, speaking with the Platform Engineer about the Corvette model that you own. This work was not invoiced and we "ate" all of it. 4. The Platform Engineer's final recommendation to remove the aftermarket exhaust and bring the vehicle back to its original factory configuration in order to obtain the base-line reading from the Corvette's diagnostic systems. Once this was done the repairs, if needed could be completed. The Platform Engineer is the top guy over a particular vehicle's design and it's service, he's the top guy at GM when it comes to your Corvette. It took almost 2 weeks before we were able to get his help while exchanging emails and phone voice mails. We were hoping a comparable vehicle would come in for service and the owner would allow us to temporarily swap the stock exhaust to your vehicle in order to complete the diagnostics without you having to spend $3,000 for a short term diagnostic use. If you could locate and provide a (takeoff) stock exhaust system, we could use that to complete the diagnosis and move forward to make the needed repairs, if needed. Yes, there is a procedure that can be used to make the check engine light go out. It is to re-flash the car's computer to recognize the modifications of an aftermarket exhaust, it's relatively inexpensive $80 - $200. We don't offer the procedure because it invalidates your car's warranty. Your power-train warranty expires normally at 60 months or 60k miles. That is on 9/10/2020 or 60,004 miles, I think you have around 54k-55k miles at this time. It is our intention and desire to maintain a positive and mutually beneficial business relationship with you. That requires an open dialogue between reasonable parties and the desire to be professional and respectful. We would be happy to complete the repairs with the understanding it will require the availability of a factory stock exhaust system either purchased or provided by you for temporary use for diagnostics.
