I told the salesperson I would take mine to Carmax and sell it there. He said OK and to call him when I sold mine and he would pick me up. Carmax offered me $1,500 more than Fairway so I agreed to sell the car to them. I called the salesperson at the Subaru dealership and was sent to voicemail. Next, I called the manager and got voicemail so I got a ride home and the next morning I called Vic Bailey Subaru. A salesman drove 45 minutes to pick me up, was a straight shooter and I bought a Forester. The new car manager was also extremely polite. Different vibe... I am not upset, just a bit disappointed with the way I was handled. More

I've been going there to solve the issue and claim warranty and I had to speak with the Service Managers, Daniel and Barry. Daniel is simply awesome!!! Kind, clear in providing information, very understanding and easy to talk to. My 4 stars go straight to him. The front desk ladies are just OK, and Barry should learn some manners and basic customer service principles. More
Decent vehicle, inadequate service department Bought our first and last Subaru from this dealership. 2015 Outback Limited. Brand new car and the fuel door won't open about 85% of the time. Of cour Bought our first and last Subaru from this dealership. 2015 Outback Limited. Brand new car and the fuel door won't open about 85% of the time. Of course it's a factory defect, call and am told they've seen hundreds of new Subarus with this issue. Now comes the problem with this dealership. Service department is deplorable. You have a car with a fuel door that won't open and you call up and it's 3 or 4 days before you can get an appointment. It's always several days out before they can address any issue in their service department: emergency or routine maintenance. They must have one service bay and one mechanic. People don't always have the ability to wait several days to address issues when they come up. I've owned Honda, Lexus, Acura, Toyota even Dodge products and every one of those dealerships you could call in the morning and have your car seen the same day. When you do get there they act like you should be grateful they even agreed to see you. They were arrogant and condescending when we arrived slightly early and asked if they could go ahead and take the car, "we'll honor your original appointment time only". As I said, back to Acura or Lexus asap. No more Mickey Mouse service departments. More
Best car buying experience ever! I have been buying cars since the mid-60s and this was by far the best buying experience I have ever had. None of the dreaded "I'll have to ask my man I have been buying cars since the mid-60s and this was by far the best buying experience I have ever had. None of the dreaded "I'll have to ask my manager" haggling, none of that feeling that the value of the trade-in was a "plug figure" to manage the pricing of the purchase. Everything was up front, honest, and fully disclosed, plus I was treated like I was a human being instead of a route to a commission. There was never any pressure and I was allowed to make my own (informed) decisions all along the way. My salesman was Jeff Smith, and everyone from the manager to the financing specialist worked as a team to make everything come together well and smoothly. I got exactly the car I wanted at a very good price. Jeff went the extra mile to make that possible, including negotiating a dealer trade when he didn't have the color I wanted. I live in North Carolina, so won't be coming down to Greenville for service, but I would certainly go back to Fairway for my next purchase! More
No pressure, no hassle and a great price! We bought a new Subaru Forester at Fairway Subaru. Our salesman Jeff was really great to work with. Everything was straightforward. Excellent Sales Experience We purchased our first Subaru Forester in 2012. We worked with Jan Doss at Fairway on that car and it was a fine experience. We recently purchased We purchased our first Subaru Forester in 2012. We worked with Jan Doss at Fairway on that car and it was a fine experience. We recently purchased our second Forester and purposely sought Jan out to make the purchase. I worked with one other dealer to validate pricing and trade value and Jan got the final deal. Jan and Fairway allowed me to buy the way I like to buy. She allowed me to take the new Forester on an extended test drive while they evaluated my trade. From that point to when we took delivery, we did the rest over the phone. One of the reasons I sought Jan out is that she knows these cars. She was not only able to tell us the features and performance factors on the first Forester (back in 2012), but was able tell me what had changed between 2012 and 2015 when I came back to look for a second Subaru. These are feature rich well priced vehicles and we have enjoyed both of them. We also get our service done at Fairway and have found them to be responsive and efficient for maintenance. More
My husband & I went to Fairway Subaru on a Sunday so we could check out the cars without anyone “pestering” us. After looking at the specs online for the Outback & liking what I saw, I decided to take we could check out the cars without anyone “pestering” us. After looking at the specs online for the Outback & liking what I saw, I decided to take a test drive. My brother & I showed up on the lot without an appointment & Gene Kendrick walked out. He asked if he could help & I said I wanted to test drive an Outback, so away we went. I wasn’t really looking forward to talking to a salesperson, but Gene wasn’t your typical (in my mind) car salesman, not annoying or pushy. He explained the features, answered my questions & asked about my interests so he could point out other features that might be useful to me. Afterwards he introduced us to some of the other employees & showed us around the “shop.” He even pointed out a playroom which I figured we wouldn’t need. Anyway, he asked me what I thought & I told him I wouldn’t be making any decisions until my husband could take a drive. He got my #, & when I tried to explain that I didn’t have voice mail, he said not to worry because he wouldn’t bother me with phone calls (yay!). He stood by his word! Five days later my husband & I plus Gene took a test drive- I wanted Gene to give his spiel again to my husband. Again I walked out without indicating when we’d make a decision, & again Gene didn’t push, just said to call him. Almost 2 weeks later we walked in to buy. We told him the model & options we wanted. He didn’t even try to sell any other options. Long story short, with 2 young nieces in tow who played in the playroom, we bought an Outback without being stressed at all. If Gene had gotten on my nerves, I would have walked away, even if he had the best price. I would highly recommend working with Gene if you’d like a stress-free experience with a laid-back, personable car salesman who wants his customers to be satisfied. More
After visiting five area dealerships to narrow down the vehicle I wanted and interacting with as many salespeople, I can honestly say that Gene was the best of the bunch. Rather than read me the window st vehicle I wanted and interacting with as many salespeople, I can honestly say that Gene was the best of the bunch. Rather than read me the window sticker in an effort to persuade me to purchase a new Forester, he demonstrated the vehicle's performance and stability by taking me on a very thorough test drive. During the whole process (it took me three visits to decide on the Forester, pick which model I wanted, and commit to ordering one), Gene and the sales staff were friendly and did not try to rush me. The sales pitch was about as low-pressure as you are likely to find. I elected to order my new Forester, because the few that were on the lot did not have the combination of options I wanted. Gene did not try to sell me more options than I asked for. Throughout the order process, he was quick to answer my inquiries for status updates. The estimated delivery date was originally stated as July, then early September, then late August. My vehicle was delivered in late August. While the final delivery date was largely out of the dealership's hands, more accurate and more frequent delivery estimate updates would have been appreciated -- but that's a personal preference. While picking up the vehicle, the low-pressure sales experience continued: while the Mike did mention and recommend several add-on protection packages and warranties, he did not try to pressure me into changing my mind when I declined. Overall, this was a very pleasant vehicle buying experience. More
My husband and I own a Subaru which is getting older and which is probably more vehicle than we currently need. The tire pressure light was on in the vehicle, so we stopped at Fairway Subaru with no appointment. Daniel and Barry addressed our problem immdeiately and at no charge to us. But we also talked with Jan in sales as we are considering the purchase of a new Subura but were not sure which of two would suit our needs. We stayed long enough to take a brief test drive. Jan is great to work with because of her knowledge of the Subaru vehicles and because she puts absolutely no pressure on the customer. She quickly helped us decide which of the two vehicles would be better for us. But beyond that, we have worked with the service department for the past seven years; one reason to purchase a new vehicle from Jan is that Daniel and Barry will keep us rolling in safety. I am very grateful to their help in the past and am fully confident this will continue into the future whether we purchase a new vehicle or decide to keep the old one on the road. I am getting older, and am the family driver; my husband is longer able to drive. I know nothing about keeping a vehicle going beyond gas, oil, tires, and battery. I know I can count on Daniel and Barry for good service for any Subaru I own, old or new. Getting a good vehicle that is a good value for my dollar, working with a competent and nice salesperson, and having two good men on our side in the service department are all reasons to consider purchasing another Subaru and to take the time to fill in this rating. Thank you. More
Gene Kendrick and the team at fairway Subaru Were very friendly courteous and professional during my purchasing experience. I was not sure what model i was interested in and they took me and my family thr friendly courteous and professional during my purchasing experience. I was not sure what model i was interested in and they took me and my family through multiple test drives were very patient while we made our decision on a new vehicle. They were also very helpful with all of the questions and walking us through the features and the difference between the different vehicle we were considering. If you are in the market for a Subaru i would definitely go see them before making a purchase anywhere else. More
