However we took our jeep in as the engine light came on because the engine wasn't getting to temperature with in specified time. SO we told them thermostat. So they of course did their own troubleshooting came up with what we said. SO they replaced the thermostat and also did some recall work. Thought all was fine until engine started to overheat. Took it right down found that they installed the thermostat the wrong way. So they gave us a loaner that lets say needed some work and an inspection. I am happy to say we didn't have to pay for any of the work. Hopefully they got it right this time. This is a great place to buy a vehicle! More

I took my Jeep in on December 5th due to a check engine light and a grinding noise coming from what I thought was the front wheels. I assumed a bearing or suspension issues since Patriots are prone to suspension problems (this is my second). Amber at the Counter and Matt the technician were very nice to me and explained that the suspension did indeed need work and that $1500 would fix my check engine light and grinding noise. We setup an appointment for December 14th, dropping off my jeep the evening of the 13th and taking a loaner back home until the work was complete. I live about 40 minutes away so I thought I would call right before I left to make sure the loaner was available and that Matt would be still working on the 14th. This is where the problems begin. Let me say that every time I call the phone is answered by reception and I ask to speak to service. They transfer me and I’m always on hold for at least 5 minutes. A few of the times I called I was on hold over 15 minutes. At times random people that don’t identify themselves pickup, ask what I’m calling about and then put me back on hold. Sometimes the line just goes dead. One time I was told the service manager was being found for me to speak to and then the receptionist came back and told me she would take down my message and he would call me back but I never received a call. I also called once and they told me to call back in an hour. Apparently taking my name and number and calling me back isn’t a thing customer service people do anymore. Another time I was trying to get an update I called three times in one day, about 4 hours apart and every time no one would talk to me and after leaving my number with reception no one returned my call. So that’s just the frustrating part, here my real troubles. So I called on the 13th to verify the appointment and after 25 minutes and three phone calls I was told by Amber that “no loaner was available and there was no way they could have setup an appointment for a loaner last week”. Well I can’t very well walk 40 miles home so after all that time I was told to bring my jeep in at 7AM the next day and they would have a loaner for me then. So, annoyed I got up early the next morning and drove to the shop. The loaner they gave me had a low tire pressure light and no windshield washer fluid in December, which makes the windshield impossible to see through. I went back inside and they fixed the issues on the loaner. I was told my Jeep would be ready at the end of the day. Turns out it would take two days to work on my jeep, not a big deal. The next day I drove to the dealership to pick it up. I spoke with Matt and he said that he did all the suspension work and fixed the check engine light (just a rusty gas tank fill tube that he painted) but that the grinding noise I brought the jeep in for is a bad bearing in the transmission and because they are a sealed unit would need a new one. After I spent fifteen hundred dollars I was told it needs a new transmission. That would have been nice to know before I spent all that money. Matt said he was going to look into getting a new transmission warrantied because it only has 88,000 miles on it but I never heard back from him. I called again on December 27th to see if I could get an update but was hung up on the first call and was told that someone would call me back on the second call. I did not receive a call back. Matt said he was going to try and get the transmission warrantied but after a month of no updates and no returned phone calls I was told by a receptionist that Amber said to call Chrysler myself. Today is January 24th and I still have no resolution. Now to add to all this I took my jeep to Burritt Chrysler in Oswego NY back on July 5th for an electrical issue and while it was there I asked them to check on the grinding noise. They said it was just an alignment issue and charged me for an alignment and never mentioned the transmission at all. In fact, I had driven to the dealership, about 30 minutes away, and when I got there they told me they didn’t have time to work on it and they couldn’t fix my issues. I spoke to Jim Sherman at Burritt and he was very good about working with me to pick up my jeep and drop it back off, but it that doesn’t make up for the fact that they didn’t pick up the transmission issue which would have put it well inside the 5 year warranty and got me a replacement transmission. Now I’m stuck with a Patriot with a bad transmission, just paid it off and spent fifteen hundred dollars on nothing other than a paint job on my gas filling tube. I finally spoke to Chrysler to tell them about my ordeal. A wonderful woman named Linda helped me file for what is called a “good will”. It appears that it means that since they screwed me so bad they are going to give me a free transmission. Well it’s still going to cost me $500 but whatever, at this point I’m too deep in to not follow through and get the transmission fixed. It looks like a guy by the name of Brian has taken over my case. He is just as terrible. Today is March 1st and I was supposed to get a loaner (that FX refused to loan me so Chrysler had to pay for it) and I called at 2:15 to confirm everything was ready. Well Brian didn’t call me back for two hours so I called him back. Left a second message, no response. I Was hung up on an hour later when I called a third time and then called back a fourth time to which I said do not put me on hold, I need to talk to someone. He then then said that the car rental place was closed and we would have to do it tomorrow. The unprofessionalism is astounding. I cannot comprehend how this place stays in business. Over the course of the good will process I have called a dozen times, only receiving one or two call backs and on multiple occasions I called and no one answered the phone at all. And they don’t have voicemail! Jason is the service manager up there and has been in contact with Linda. I wish I could speak directly to him but that has only happened once and he doesn’t pick up when I ask to speak to him. Finally picked up the Jeep on March 8th. It was supposed to be ready On Friday but when I called to verify they said it wasn’t. Bryan called me back around 3:00 to say it was ready and they think it needs new sparkplugs and they would take care of it for $125. Spark plugs cost me $15 and 15 minutes of time. When I got there I checked the odometer and they only test drove the vehicle for 15 miles. I would think that changing the entire transmission would warrant a little more testing. It does sound a little quieter but because the tires are worn uneven it’s hard to tell if the issues are resolved. It didn’t skip on the way home so I’m taking that as a good sign. Let’s hope this is over. So due to all the service issues I have had and the suspension having to be rebuilt on both Patriots after 80,000 miles I will not be buying another Chrysler vehicle. It seems like any Chrysler shop I go to plays these games. And I won’t be doing business with FX Caprara ever again for either service or buying another vehicle from them. You have been warned. More
