Had stalling and dying issues with my car. Took it in for diagnostics and was shown a bottle of a "mysterious filmy liquid." It was ethanol phase separation, but they didn't have the knowledge to explain it diagnostics and was shown a bottle of a "mysterious filmy liquid." The service advisor recommended a $400 fuel system flush and applied scare tactics, saying that over half my entire full tank of gas was this mystery liquid, and that the damage "may already be done." Took it to a small shop next door and they found zero contamination. This location charged me $170 and tried to scare me into spending more when it was just a little water at the bottom of the tank. I called the store "service director" and he assured me he was there when they pulled the gas from my truck, and he saw the bottle sitting on the bed. My car is a Fiesta. He became flustered when I called him on the colorful lie, and ended the call without offering any correction to the situation. More
