An excellent buying experience Having visited several of the other RV dealers in the state and adjoining states it was interesting to find a dealer who was interested in my needs .. Having visited several of the other RV dealers in the state and adjoining states it was interesting to find a dealer who was interested in my needs ... not just in selling me something . Some dealers spend too much time getting all your personal information rather than showing you product that you are interested in purchasing . We had a certain product in mind and wanted to see that specific product ... not all the things that we were not interested in buying. The sales person , Drew , was very cordial and able to answer all of our questions . The business end of the transaction, Jennifer , was handled in a very professional manner with an interest , again , in our situation and needs . At delivery we were introduced to the Parts and Service Departments and all systems were active and explained . I do not usually participate in these dealer reviews but felt that this RV dealership was truly exceptional . More

He is professional, I purchased a 2017 Grand Design Solitude 375RE Fifth Wheel (42ft) from Robert Christian, at Dodd RV, and couldn't be more pleased. He is professional, knowledgeable, and an all around great person. As a first time 5er buyer, I asked a ton of questions. Robert had the answer for most, and if he didn't, he called the representative at Grand Design and got the answer on the spot. We chose a rig, and he was there from start to finish (prep, walk-through, and delivery). Excellent across the board! The Operations manager, Brian Doss, was very knowledgeable and helpful. They have a family atmosphere there, and make you feel like part of it. Jennifer Dodd (Business Manager) is outstanding. A peach! She handled all the paperwork and financing. I already had a good rate from my bank but we found a better one. I enjoyed talking with her every time I was in, as well as telling stories and a little music playing on her computer. Dave Till (Service/Walkthrough) was excellent. He explained all the systems, answered all the hard questions I had researched, and happily put up wth me looking at everything. It was also 30 degrees and had snowed. I just finished a coast-to-coast pull from Virginia Beach, to Anacortes Washington with only normal minor issues (screw tightening, cracked panel below stairs, and hitch adjustments). The crew at Dodd absolutely deserves credit in making that run a success. Do your research, come prepared, and they will take it from there. More

Multiple issues. Dodd will pass the costs onto YOU! This will be long, but worth the read as it could save you months of heartache and frustration. In July 2015 we bought a 2015 Forest River Georgeto This will be long, but worth the read as it could save you months of heartache and frustration. In July 2015 we bought a 2015 Forest River Georgetown from Dodd RV. The sale process was flawless. The repair processes have been abysmal. Forest River has poor construction and manufacturing techniques followed by poor, or non-existent, QA inspections. I have had a multitude of problems, most of which were fixed by Dodd. The two big problems have really highlighted Dodd RV's very poor repair practices/responsibilities; hence this review. Water Intrusion Problem: I had water intrusion into my coach which Dodd inspected and claimed the intrusion was from the porch light. The fix was to seal the porch light. The water intrusion continued, this time swelling the cabinetry. I made an appointment at Dodd, which was more than 1 month away. Not wanting to risk further water damage I took my coach to another repair center, Chesapeake RV Solutions, for diagnosis and repair. It took the RV technicians less then 10 minutes to identify several spots on the roof that were NEVER SEALED at the factory. Let me be clear, the sealant was NEVER APPLIED by Forest River! Chesapeake RV Solutions sealed the roof and solved the water intrusion problem. I was in and out in less than 90 minutes. I kept the original appt at Dodd RV because of the damaged cabinetry. I explained that the roof was already fixed and that I needed the cabinetry replaced. Dodd reported back that the warranty claim was denied by Forest River because I had already owned the RV for more than 6 months, and checking/resealing the roof was the responsibility of the customer. I argued that this case was different because the sealant was NEVER applied during construction. It should not be up to the customer to identify areas of missing sealant. Dodd insisted the warranty was denied and suggested I call Forest River. I called Forest River and had they informed me that the warranty was denied because Dodd RV owned my unit for 8 months before I bought it; therefore, all roof inspection and maintenance responsibilities falls to Dodd RV. Additionally, no discrepancies were noted when Dodd RV performed their Post Delivery Inspection (PDI) after buying the unit from Forest River. When I confronted Dodd RV I was told that they would replace the cabinetry but it would take several weeks to do the research and find a part number. This is, in my opinion, a stall tactic. In no way, shape, or form does it take weeks, or even days, to find a part number (I have 2 decades of first-hand experience with researching and ordering parts). Heater ducts ripped: When running our furnace we found that there was a incredible amount of heat coming out from the cabinet and drawers under our sink; so much heat that the metal pots under the sink were too hot to touch with a bare hand. I found a rip in the duct work behind a drawer, which Dodd fixed. The next time we used our furnace we found that the heat problem was not solved so I took it back in. This time I was prepared, my appointment was not until late morning so I started the furnace and left only a steel pot under the sink. I showed the problem to the Service Advisor, Sara Potter, who brought in a "senior technician" to witness the excessive heat. Both agreed that this was not normal. When picking up my unit I was again told that is the normal operation of my furnace. Dodd said that they spoke with Forest River who confirmed that much heat underneath the sink was normal. I asked if any human beings actually inspected the duct work. I was told, yes. There is no way this much heat is normal. This weekend, while camping, I decided to look for myself. I took me only a few minutes to remove two panels (8 screws) and two drawers and lay my eyes on FOUR RIPS in the two ducts that were back there. Yes, FOUR RIPS!!! These rips were caused by Forest River's shoddy workmanship; they used inch long screws to secure drawer runners to 1/2 inch plywood. The screws went right through the wood and into the ducts. I went to Lowes and purchased new ducting and 1/2 inch screws. It took me 2 more hours to make the necessary repairs and put everything back together. Guess what I found when I tested it, that's right, ZERO heat coming from under the sink!!! Dodd RV has shown me that they don't care about their customers. They are either too inept to identify and repair glaring problems, or they failed to identify these problems in their own Post Delivery Inspection after buying from Forest River and they know they will have to pay for the repairs. They don't want to pay so they blame the manufacturer and hope the customer doesn't do their own research. STAY AWAY FROM DODD RV!!! More
Great People To Buy From My wife and I hit numerous RV dealers in the Virginia area while trying to sort out exactly what we wanted.... we went from Travel Trailer to Class A My wife and I hit numerous RV dealers in the Virginia area while trying to sort out exactly what we wanted.... we went from Travel Trailer to Class A to Fifth Wheel, back to travel trailer and finally decided on a Fifth Wheel Toy Hauler - Momentum 380TH. We were a salespersons nightmare ! We had no idea what we wanted. through this process we did realize that we kept heading back to Dodd and the Grand Design products that they had. In the end, our salesman Drew Doss helped us by letting use wander around and decide what we really wanted. He would answer every question we had and even priced up two custom orders for us... before we settled on a Momentum 380TH that was right in r=front of his office the whole time. We never felt rushed, pressured, or unwelcome at Dodd - even though I bet I stopped in 10 times over the course of a several weeks. Drew and Brian in the sales department were great to deal with, as were Jennifer in Business, Dave in Service, and Doc / Mrs. Doss in Parts. We are very happy with our purchase and our dealer. More

I walked down and spoke with the owner of the trailer. We really liked it and went back online and did a dealer search and found Dodd RV to be our nearest dealer. Contacted the dealer and spoke with Drew, he gave us enough information over the phone that when we got home from vacation we unhooked and drove to Portsmouth to see him, the dealership and the trailer. Drew was very knowledgeable about the trailer and the manufacturer. Went back the following Monday and met with Brian and we got together on a trade price. We purchased the trailer and brought it home today. Very satisfied, NO xx with sales or finance straight to point, put it on the money the first time and no haggling. More

They each put time and thought into our purchase and we appreciate that. Dave was our mechanic and was very patient with all of our (mostly my) questions. He made sure everything was perfect, down to the remote batteries, before we drove off the lot. I'm sure Jennifer worked many hours on our loan and paperwork and made sure everything went smoothly. We look forward to working with Dodd for years to come. More

Well they DELIVERED on that promise with each and every interaction we had with them. They were never pushy, always helpful, and extremely courteous. We were torn between a dealer in NJ selling the same unit, and Dodd RV in Virginia. CHOOSE SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY every time!!! Jennifer was nothing but helpful and informative with every question and detail. Drew got the process rolling and was lightning fast with responses. Brian took us on our test drive and REALLY helped to make us feel comfortable driving a motorhome - a new experience for us!!!
