Second Time Buying From Dave Smith Motors This was our second time buying a vehicle from Dave Smith Motors. We were excited since our first buying experience was great. The second time wasn' This was our second time buying a vehicle from Dave Smith Motors. We were excited since our first buying experience was great. The second time wasn't so great. It took over 5.5 hours to complete the buying process. They didn't make us feel special at all. In fact, it was more like, "aren't you lucky to be buying from us". My impression was that they are so big and commercialized now, that they forget the little guy that keeps them in business. Of course, maybe they sell so many vehicles to large companies, that they don't need the little guy any more. We felt high pressure from the finance guy to buy the extended warranty, which was way more expensive than it should have been. We had to ask about accessories, and weren't given any suggestions, such as mud flaps which they told us later were required for Idaho. We felt a lot of pressure to give them a high rating, which we felt they hadn't earned. We spent a lot of time sitting around, not sure why things were taking so long. When we were finished, our salesman sent us to a nearby gas station where he filled the truck with gas, then spent 5 minutes explaining our trucks features. We felt rushed since we were sitting at the pump instead of the dealer lot. It would have been nice to have the truck already filled, then have a few extra minutes in the lot going over the truck's features. All-in-all, we did get a good price for our truck, and they gave us a good trade-in value for our car, so financially we did alright, but we felt the service was lacking. I don't think we'll buy from them again. More

Overall Disappointing Experience with a few good highlights My wife and I flew from Seattle to Spokane and were promptly greeted and picked up by a Dave Smith shuttle driver. Extremely nice driver, even shared My wife and I flew from Seattle to Spokane and were promptly greeted and picked up by a Dave Smith shuttle driver. Extremely nice driver, even shared some history of the area with us on our drive to Kellogg, ID. This is where things started to go down hill. Upon arriving at the dealership, we immediately saw our truck as if it were ready to go on a test drive. We were really excited. We even saw our 5th wheel hitch all mounted in the bed of the truck as we had discussed prior to arriving. We were expecting them to have to install the unit which takes about 30 minutes or less. Our sales rep was no where to be found, but after a 5-10 minute wait was on site and then explained to us that the truck had to be fueled up first, as it was "on fumes". We waited another 15-20 minutes and were finally off on our test drive. The test drive went very well. We parked the truck and began a walk around inspection of the vehicle. I first noticed a previously undisclosed large dent in the trucks bed. The dent was significant enough the paint had chipped off. This was disappointing to say the least, as we had flown out, and a large dent could/would significantly effect our deal. We continued the walk around and I noticed oil rainbows on the ground. I then looked under the truck and noticed a significant oil leak. The sales rep took the truck over to the service department and invited us to have some BBQ as it is Dave Smiths normal procedure to have a BBQ on Saturdays. So we went over and had some BBQ. Hot dogs were great, burgers not so much. After about 90 minutes of waiting for the service department to apparently tighten the drain plug and fill the truck with an extra quart of oil, we finally were back in the sales office negotiating price. There was a bit of back and forth due to the oil leak and undisclosed damage, but we settled on a fair price and were moved to another building to complete the purchase and financing. After another 60 minute wait, I started to get annoyed and asked the customer service desk what was taking so long. They assured us we were to be processed soon. Another 30 minutes and nothing. I followed up with the customer service desk a few more times and finally after a total of 2 hours of waiting, we were with someone from the finance department. The finance guy was great, and even found us a better interest rate with another institution, so we were thrilled with this part of the sale. We were finally ready to get onto the road. We get settled in our new truck and notice the tank is <1/4 of a tank. Now I get that a truck has a 30+ gallon tank, and wouldn't expect nearly $100 in fuel, but something just felt cheap about this. We were told that they are only allowed to fill 6 gallons in a vehicle. So we stopped at the next gas station and filled up on our way home. The story doesn't end here. We had been told so many great things about Dave Smith and the purchasing experience we just felt like we had an odd or uncommon visit. So I called in and spoke to a manger name Mo. I explained my story to him and he told me he'd see what he could do for us. It's been over a month since that phone call, and I have never heard anything back. We suspect since we bought used, we were treated as second class customers to their new customers. Based on our experience, we will not be going back. More

I would recommend Dave Smith motors to everyone. Make sure when you go down there ask for Travis and he will make your experience a pleasure. More
