Best...and WORST...car buying experience I've had This was one of the best experiences I've ever had buying a new car in terms of price and the ease at which the deal was negotiated and finalized. The This was one of the best experiences I've ever had buying a new car in terms of price and the ease at which the deal was negotiated and finalized. The salesman went out of his way to find me every discount imaginable. There wasn't a lot of back and forth between salesman and managers. I basically told them where I needed to be and wound up with an even better price than I asked for. BUT... The sales process was excruciatingly long. The sales people are required to do the legwork that other, entry-level type employees (ie: what used to be called "lotboys") or administrative employees could have done. I made an initial trip (about 265 miles round trip from home), found a truck, made a deal and placed a security deposit on the truck. I needed to come back later to finish the deal. The following week I called DSM and told them when my wife and I would be there, I had financing arranged and told them I would be pressed for time. I asked that my new car be prepped and ready to go when I arrived. That gave them 2.5 hours to get it ready. When my wife and I arrived at 11am not only was the truck not ready, I was told it had been damaged on the lot. So, we had to start over from scratch in selecting another truck. We did. It took about an hour. From that point we waited, waited, and waited some more. Finally the deal (basically the same as before) was prepped but they had the wrong number for my trade. That took almost 2 hours to resolve. One issue after another with the administrative side of the deal. Finally we got into finance. I had to listen to over a half hour of sales pitch on extras (extended warranty, GAP insurance, etc) that I was adamant I didn't want and didn't buy. On the plus side, the finance manager not only got a rate that matched my prearranged financing but beat it. So I was happy about that. At some time after 6:30pm the truck was ready. Except that it had been scratched in the shop while having a tire/wheel balanced. So we had to wait for that to get buffed out. It looked great when done. We were able to head home at around 7pm. So...best car deal I've ever had in terms of price paid. Worst car deal I've ever had in terms of the hassle of actually getting the car off the lot and home. We did ask to speak to an upper-level manager and he gave us lip service about how sorry he was for the troubles we had, blah, blah, blah. He did offer to comp the lunch my wife bought for us at a local restaurant. So, again, another good point but hardly enough for me to ever even consider buying another car there. All things considered, go to DSM for a great price. Don't go to DSM if you want the "hassle free" buying experience they advertise. More

Best experience I have ever had buying a vehicle. I got a quote online from Levi, a followup call, and no pressure during the process. Sonny stepped in on Levi's day off and I was in/out of the dealer I got a quote online from Levi, a followup call, and no pressure during the process.
