I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in an attempt to have a deposit refunded to me. Dave Smith Motors responded to my complaint with the following reply: "After going through Mr. Bob in an attempt to have a deposit refunded to me. Dave Smith Motors responded to my complaint with the following reply: "After going through Mr. Bob Xxxxxxxx's file...It is clear that the customer did not sign the non-refundable deposit for order form that the salesperson is required to have in a customers file. Mr. Xxxxxxx's file will now go to our accounting department, and a $1000 check will be mailed out and his credit card will be refunded $1000 as well. Hopefully Mr. Xxxxxxx will not let one persons actions reflect poorly on our entire company". Shortly thereafter they sent a credit for the charge portion only to pull it back and trigger the dispute process between Dave Smith Motors and my Bank. My Bank was able to credit my account but it took nearly a month to do so. They never sent the check as promised in their reply to the BBB. It's my opinion, based on this experience, that they sent the initial credit as an act of deception in order to show a satisfactory resolution to the BBB complaint. It's been almost 2 months since the check was promised. My mistake was trusting that Dave Smith Motors would make good on their word and that's clearly not the case. I would strongly encourage anyone looking to purchase a vehicle to do it elsewhere. More

Very deceptive sales practices and customer service. Would NEVER recommend buying anything from them ever again. We bought a new Pacifica years ago, and we’re pushed into their extended warranty (which Would NEVER recommend buying anything from them ever again. We bought a new Pacifica years ago, and we’re pushed into their extended warranty (which we never buy) but we’re repeatedly assured that it had a no nonsense buy back guarantee. Fast forward 4 years later, and we are out the $3,000 for the buyback because the third party underwriter is a scam artist, and Dave Smith has rung their hands of any accountability in the process. They gladly convinced us to spend thousands of dollars on something that we’re now getting screwed on. They won’t return phone calls, and clearly have no intention of helping reimburse the hundreds of customers who got fleeced by this shady scam. We’re contemplating consulting with an attorney, but regardless of the outcome, Dave Smith Motors will never get business from us again, and I will make sure to tell everyone I know about their shady business practices. I wanted a new truck so I contacted dave smith and had a good experience with the sales person (Kourtney) got me the truck I wanted, it just took some time for it to come in. When I went to go look at the truck and pick it up I had the financing already done through them, or so they told me, after picking up my new vehicle I noticed I never received any financing paper work after three weeks so I called them. The story from them was they dropped the ball and would make the first payment because of there mistake they call me and tell me I owe them the money for that first payment! This was 6 months after the deal was done!!! So I paid it. The point of this review is to point out there problems. When someone purchase’s a vehicle the deal should be done not calling six months later and saying there was a mistake and now they need it taken care of!! This is terrible service!!! It’s like no one in finance know what they are doing, I own a business and if I called one of my customers months after a deal was done and asked for more money I’m sure I wouldn’t be in business much longer!! Dave smith get your stuff together!!! I feel you actually owe me that money back!! More

I've bought three vehicles from DSM in the past. Took my son there today to buy his first car. We started the process online and the salesman ( term I use loosely) would not answer out questions, sa Took my son there today to buy his first car. We started the process online and the salesman ( term I use loosely) would not answer out questions, said we just had to show up etc. Like most people going to DSM we live out of state so we wanted some questions answered prior to making the trip. Sounds reasonable, right? My son held a vehicle for $500 and he had his heart set on it so we went. Took a test drive and the guy rushed my son through looking at the car where he discovered issues with the car. The sakes guy tells him "We just make sure these things are running and that's it". They would not come down in price at all and only offered my son 6 gallons of gas if he were to purchase the vehicle. What a joke! I really couldn't get over how unprofessional the sales guy was. Apparently the company was sold about a year ago and does it ever show. Gone are the days where you could go into Dave Smith have a great day ( even a free lunch) get a quality vehicle sold to you by a PROFESSIONAL. And gone are the days when I will return to Dave Smith for a vehicle. Sad. More

2016 bought a jeep, as we're signing was asked several times about buying an extended warranty told him no. Then he told us about a buy back warranty, said if you don't use it you get your money back. Thi times about buying an extended warranty told him no. Flash forward 6 years and didn't use the warranty filled out all the paper work, jumped through all the hoops turned in said paper work and was told it would be 3 months to get money. That was almost a year ago now and no money. Contacted Dave Smith several times with the same answer the company that they work with is behind in the payments. So we tried to call and e-mail this company that Dave Smith gave us phone number and email for, no answer no call backs no emails back. Now When we contact Dave Smith all we get is we don't know. So buyer beware if Dave Smith is still pushing this warranty tell them to go pound sand. More

Elmer was very helpful and willing to do whatever it took to find me a vehicle. It was very easy to get a hold of him and I never felt pressured into buying something I didn't need.
