The salesman said he would overnight a signed contract to me, I could review, sign and overnight back to him. Three days prior to my departure date on a 956 mile, one-way trip, the contact had still not arrived. I tried calling numerous times, then finally text messaged my salesman and told him I would be canceling because the contract had not arrived. He kept giving me excuses, then said he would personally work the contract over to the mail and overnight it that same day. Day of departure arrived for our trip, still no contract. I text messaged my salesman and told him I would be purchasing from local dealer and to refund my deposit. That was on Sept. 12, 2015. He texted me back, said he was keeping the deposit because I broke the deal! Really??? I BROKE THE DEAL??? I have tried calling the sales manager and left him 4 separate voice mails, and he has never attempted to call me back. I have filed a complaint with the Idaho Attorney General's office, disputed the charge with my credit card company, and have shared my experiences here and on other sites. If this has happened to you, I highly recommend filing a complaint with the Idaho AG's office. Good luck and be careful dealing with Dave Smith Motors. Their customer service is horrible now. Purchased a vehicle from them in 2012 and had no problems. Apparently, they have changed management or something. Totally disgusted with them. More
Internet Scam - Rip-off Artists I called to shop a Ram truck and Mason gave me a great price on the phone but said he didn't have one on the lot with all the options I wanted. He sa I called to shop a Ram truck and Mason gave me a great price on the phone but said he didn't have one on the lot with all the options I wanted. He said he could arrange a dealer-swap but that I would have to provide a $500 deposit. I gave my Visa info and asked him to email me a window sticker so I could see in writing what he was getting. The $500 was cashed a few days later, but no email was sent. I called and he read off some of the options of the truck he supposedly had lined up. It was NOT the truck we discussed and I asked for my money back. He said it was a non-refundable deposit. When I asked to speak with his manager he almost laughed as he asked, "Are you going to tell them what a great deal I gave you?" His manager (Ray), and the floor manager (Mo) have both ignored my calls and emails. They have a well rehearsed rip-off scam in operation. More

A typical dealership that scams people I do not know how this dealership get such high ratings . I arrived at the dealership at 8 AM and I was not able to leave with my vehicle until 3 PM I do not know how this dealership get such high ratings . I arrived at the dealership at 8 AM and I was not able to leave with my vehicle until 3 PM because their finance department . They kept on raising the price on the vehicle and trying to get me to pay more money for It. In the end the vehicle was over $2500 more than what I was quoted via the Internet text and through the salesperson . Typical dealership pulls all the tricks just like other dealerships including pressure sales and padding the sticker price . Stay away from this dealership that is my recommendation . I will never ever purchased a car from the dealer again and because of the experience I will never purchase a Dodge again! For those of you who did your research like I did and expected a good quality service and a good quality price and lower pricing because they're advertising in their online ratings don't be tricked like I was . I am still baffled on how they have such high ratings I imagine most of them are probably fake! More

It was a bad experience from beginning to end and will never return there again. First, I discussed the car I was interested in over the phone. I called back later to let salesperson (Reagan) know I would be in at 5:00 to look at it but had to leave a voice mail because she didn’t answer. Never heard back from her but I showed up as I said anyway. Reagan was gone and I was told that her phone was broke and that is why she didn't call back. Apparently she couldn't use the 100 other phones in the building to call me back with. When arrived the girl at the front desk said, “are you her 5;00 appointment she was expecting?” If the phone was broke how did the ladies at the front desk know that I was her 5:00 appointment? She obviously got my message. I was then sent to another sales person (Roland) because Reagan had left, or at least that’s what I was told. Roland was busy so we sat for over an hour waiting for him. Meanwhile there are sales people everywhere that could have helped us but they had us wait for him. Once Roland arrived I was then told the car I drove hours out of my way to see wasn't actually on the lot, but was in transport from somewhere else. They then couldn't even tell me where the vehicle was at or when it would arrive. Total waste of my time! Again, they could have called me back to tell me not to come until it was there. They of course tried to get me to look at a more expensive model. Roland then pressured me into putting money down for a car that wasn’t on the lot. I wasn’t comfortable with that. He assured me the money was refundable if I decided not to buy the car. I was asked 3 different times that it was indeed refundable and he said yes every time. He used the scare tactic that they sell 50 cars a day so the one I’m looking at could be sold to someone else. I finally caved and gave them $250 to hold the car when it arrives at the lot. We left and were told that he would call the next day to let me know where the car was and when it was due to arrive. Next day, no phone call. He finally called a few days later to tell me it was in Spokane but still no expected arrival date for their lot. I got tired of waiting and went to my local dealer and purchased the car I was waiting on (which was the best car buying experience I’ve had-Taylor and Sons in Ponderay ID). The manager at Dave Smith is now telling me that since I didn't buy the car I can not get a refund. He said it’s a state law that since I bought a car somewhere else they now can not refund that money. This information was never disclosed to me. They need to fully explain the policy of giving them money since as a customer we don’t automatically know this policy. It is deception on there part. Had I known that from the beginning I would not have given them any money. I was told repeatedly if I decided I didn't want the car it would be refunded but not told if I purchased somewhere else it would not. The manager said the odds were in my favor though since the car wasn’t on the lot yet and that he would have Reagan call me the next day. It’s been a few days and no call back. From the sounds of the other reviews this is a common occurrence. You give them money to hold a car and when you decide not to buy it they keep your money. Even though they say it’s refundable it’s not! They are thieves and liars and I will be reporting this to the BBB as should all the others who have had their money stolen by them. They should be allowed to get away with this. More

All I got was a bunch of BS about how they couldn't produce a price but would be happy to have a sales manager call me back or email me. They deal in volume because they keep their sheep in a row, sheep meaning customers. If you are dumb enough to buy from them because you think you'll save money, god have mercy on your soul. More
Missed deadline, stolen deposit Called asking about a specific truck, was told it would be available in 4 days. Put down deposit as I was asked, made arrangements to have it shipped Called asking about a specific truck, was told it would be available in 4 days. Put down deposit as I was asked, made arrangements to have it shipped to Alaska with time to spare Every day for 2 weeks it would "be available tomorrow". No explanations, no one liked returning my calls. It came down to dialing random extensions to leave voicemails on any managers extension. On my last day of vacation I called a few other dealers to find the truck in stock and bought it there. Now as expected no one wants to return my calls as promise and they are refusing to refund my deposit. Worst experience I could have had. My advice is to call dave smith for a price quote and then call your local dealer and ask them to match. They'll be hungry for your business and much easier to deal with. More
Done with Dave Smith Motors! I was in the process of purchasing my second vehicle from Dave Smith and they had what I thought was a vehicle my wife would like and I felt pressured I was in the process of purchasing my second vehicle from Dave Smith and they had what I thought was a vehicle my wife would like and I felt pressured by the sales person. Well come to find out, there were a few futures that she wanted that were not on the vehicle that I put hold money on. I have emailed and tried calling my sales rep, but TJ never returns my calls. Before you give them your credit card number over the phone, be 100% sure it is the vehicle you want at the best price you can get. There are MANY dealerships out there that will refund your hold money if you find something else, Dave Smith should be one of them. I am afraid I am out my $$$$. It will be a cold day before I recommend Dave Smith or even shop there again! More
Tell you What You want hear I was looking to purchase new truck from Dave Smith Motors. The salesman was friendly enough but did not seem to want to help in the sales process. I was looking to purchase new truck from Dave Smith Motors. The salesman was friendly enough but did not seem to want to help in the sales process. It seemed he was interested in picking the vehicle and telling me what a great vehicle it was without actually finding out what I wanted and what I was using the vehicle for. On several occasions I told what I was looking for and my time line. His response was always we will make it work. Began the sales process and found poor communication between finance and sales. The paperwork sent had the wrong city and when I inquired about the delay and I was in a time crunch, I was told by finance they would look in to it and contact me the next day. No contact. Inquired with the salesperson and was told no big deal. They would resend paperwork and it would work out. After a couple days of this I rescinded the deal. Now I have heard nothing back after a week of repeated inquires on the deposit I gave them in good faith. Maybe Dave Smith Motors is to big to be helpful? Make sure you know exactly what you want and what rebates and options are available on the vehicle you want, they are more interested in the sale then helping you in the process. More
