Salesman name Sebastion and I spent nearly 2 weeks negotiating the sale terms And prices.. I made it very clear that I was a disabled veteran on a fixed low income. I made it clear that I could not afford a bunch of repairs that would result from buying a worn out junker. I made it clear that I did not want to buy some kids hopped up modified chipped monster truck. I was very clear in all aspects of what I expected, and that I did not want to drive 500 miles to find out that the reality was different than what I was promised. I was assured many times that both trucks were solid, unmodified and in reasonable condition. In retrospect, I should’ve been suspicious when my requests for more pictures and close-ups were met with statements such as the truck is not at the lot, or the truck is in Spokane, or there’s nobody there to take a picture, blah blah blah. Instead I made arrangements to rent a car to make the 500 mile drive. Because I was buying two trucks I looked on craigslist and found a tandem Dually gooseneck trailer for sale and an incredibly good price from a company called Peak performance about 10 miles west of Dave Smith’s Idaho lot. Peak delivered the trailer to Dave Smith auto for me so that it was ready. Peak performance is one fantastic group of people. Now back to the buying experience at Dave Smith motors. I arrived just as the equipment trailer was being unhooked and left next door to Dave Smith motors at the Les Schwab lot. The salesman barely took the time to meet me before he started saying we have to hurry and get this deal closed because we can’t leave the trailer sitting on the less Schwab lot. The first thing I noticed was the 3500 had antifreeze and oil underneath the engine. I was told by the salesman not to worry about it that they had my back, and any problems that are pre-existing would be taken care of. The truck was being sold as is so I knew that I needed to have an agreement to fix anything that was wrong before I negotiated a sales deal and left. I test drove the truck and found that it had airbag lights on, The engine light was on, the truck would not go into four-wheel-drive, and most of all you could smell antifreeze the whole time I was driving. I returned from the test drive and the salesman immediately sent the truck over to the Chrysler service center to be fixed. In the meantime I started looking over the 1500. It had a nearly flat tire, but there wasn’t any other real obvious problems. I test drove it and again smelled antifreeze. I was never able to locate the source of the antifreeze leak but, in the interest of being fair I was getting the 1500 at a reasonably good price and I figured if it wasn’t blasting antifreeze out it’s something I could deal with later. After a few hours of waiting around, the 3500 came back from the shop with the claim that they had replaced the thermostat. I stated that I had looked the engine over and the thermostat housing was not what was leaking initially. They also had not addressed the oil leak they had not addressed the airbag light except to say that their computer said it was a door sensor and that they would take care of the problem but they did not have the part in stock. Salesman Sebastian and sales manager Taylor repeatedly reassured me that pre-existing problems would either be fixed there or could be fixed at my local dealership at their expense. I saw no reason to disbelieve the claim that the door sensor for the airbag would be fixed when I got back to port Angeles. The four-wheel-drive had been fixed, it was missing some sort of a pin down underneath on the axle.. That left an oil leak and the antifreeze leak, but now the day has been used up and nobody was in a big mood to pursue any further investigation of the antifreeze leak. I was assured by the salesman and Taylor that they had my back, but it was a pre-existing condition, and that it would be handled if it became a problem. I then went over to the financing department to do the paperwork and to buy a warranty.. The fellow in financing, Steve, was very helpful throughout the whole process, and is very easy to get along with fellow. Unfortunately partway through the process he found that I could not buy a warranty. This was a deal killer as far as I was concerned not just because of the antifreeze but because of the fact that the truck had been modified and hopped up and I didn’t trust it. Steve said they couldn’t get the warranty because the truck has been deleted. I was not aware of what that meant and he informed me that it was because all of the pollution control equipment has been removed and the engine was chipped for more power. That removed the possibility of buying a warranty. I was ready to quit the deal and get my deposits back but I had a couple of problems, one of which was a gooseneck trailer sitting on the Les Schwab lot that I would not of had a way to move. 2) the 1500 was a decent buy and I didn’t have a problem with that truck. 3) The sales manager named Taylor then said he would remove $2000 from the price because they had not informed me that I could not get a warranty on the truck. The $2000 discount was very clearly stated that it was to replace the warranty that I would be buying. It was also agreed on the spot, that the pre-existing issues would be covered. This included the airbag sensor replacement the oil leak and any issues that cropped up with the anti-freeze leak on the way back to Port Angeles. I expressed my concern about a 500 mile trip and I was told by Sebastian and Taylor that if there was a problem to call them immediately. I kept hearing the term we’ve got your back, the truck is solid, will make sure you’re taken care of. I guess if the trailer had not been sitting there I would’ve made arrangements to finish paying for the 1500 and left with it, and then made arrangements to come back to Idaho and get the trailer later. I’m sure Peak performance would have let me put it back on their lot for a week or two, but I was under heavy pressure from Dave Smith motors sales people to get the deal done. It was Friday. I signed the papers shook hands told them I was taking them at their word, and left I can’t believe that I did not get that in writing, but I felt that there was no need to since the promises were made in front of three people; myself and two other employees. I got a motel because it was so late, and headed out early the next morning for a 500 mile drive back to Port Angeles. By the time I got to Ellensburg I was refilling the radiator every 30 miles. I had to watch the temperature gage constantly, because you cannot let a diesel overheat. I limped home and made it about 10 miles from Port Angeles before the truck was finally gushing so much coolant that I had to have friends help get the 3500 home and tow the trailer with the 1500. As per our agreement, I took the truck to the local ram dealership and repair center, where I was presented with an estimate of $2700 for the repair of a blown head gasket. That did not include the cost of the door sensor for the airbag. It also did not include fixing the oil leak. I did some searching with a mirror and found that the oil leak was a simple fix. The dipstick tube was broken away from its support bracket leaving three holes in the tube where the spot welds hold the bracket on, thus allowing oil to blow out through those three holes. I then contacted Sebastian and then Taylor at Dave Smith motors and was met with a completely different attitude then was presented while I was buying the trucks. No we are not going to fix your truck! You bought the truck as is! We gave you $2000 off the price! I will mention that that 2000 was to replace a warranty, But it was agreed that pre-existing conditions would be taken care of. The bottom line is the management at Dave Smith motors does not hold their employees to the promises that they make. By the time this is all done I’m going to be 3000 or more dollars in the hole. I tried to reason with Taylor and Sebastian, but they were adamant that now that I was 500 miles away, I was on my own. Good luck, click. Buyer beware! I got the shaft, and I’m gonna have to get legal help and spend money to get them to honor the agreement they made. It is my opinion that buying a vehicle used or new from people that don’t tell the truth is a mistake. No matter how many incentives or goodies you were offered or the free hat and coffee mug, bad idea. So when you’re looking for a vehicle used or new the goal would be to sort out the truth from the B-S and not let them rush you. I didn’t do so well this time. But I’m not done I’m gonna pursue this regardless of the cost. The smartest thing Dave Smith motors could’ve done is pay for the repairs to my truck and have me out there telling the world what a great outfit they are and how they stepped up to the plate, that they were HONORABLE. Not smart. At the end of the day Dave Smith motors took advantage of a person buying two trucks. Lies were told. Promises were made that were not kept. Any used truck that you’re selling could have potential problems because it’s not new. The proper thing to do is make the agreement and then stand by it. My recommendation in my opinion is that no one, ever, should buy new or used vehicles from Dave Smith Motors. More
Worst dealership EVER!!! I drove over 1100 miles. Had a deposit on a truck. Am agreed upon dollar amount on my trade in. Even i got there they told me the truck i was buying got for dinged but they would f deposit on a truck. Am agreed upon dollar amount on my trade in. Even i got there they told me the truck i was buying got for dinged but they would fix it. Than they have me less than promised in trade in. Had a damaged tail gate that they tried to cover up with an aftermarket light. This was a Chevy 3500 crew cab 4x4 high country Duramax. $60,000 truck with 9,000 miles. To make a long story short I purchased the truck because I needed a vehicle and it drove that far. I made it home just fine but a week later one headlight on the left went out I'm low beam and one headlight on the right on high beam stopped working and there was moisture in the lens. I called my salesman whose name was Boston and he told me it should be under warranty. Needless to say I bought an extended warranty as well so I figured I'd be covered all the way around. This was supposed to be as I was told a certified GM truck. After taking it to a dealership in California their mechanics told me that there were aftermarket LED bulbs put in the truck they caused it to run to hot burning out the gaskets in the headlight and it would be $1,600 to fix as well as $200 service charge. Dave Smith motors told me to just pay for it and they would reimburse me. I said no I know how this will end they said fine we will send the parts and then we will pay for the labor I said sounds good needless to say the parts never came and then had been almost 3 weeks later and I needed my headlights fixed they said they promised they would send a check the next day and that I should just have the work completed. So that is what I was forced to do. I never did receive a check for reimbursement. They will not return phone calls. Come to find out it was not a certified GM truck. they lied to me on every level possible and it was the worst buying experience ever. I would not recommend doing business with these crooks I don't care how much of a "good deal" you I think you are getting in the end you're getting screwed. More

I was contacted by Ethan Labenne via email. I asked about the price of the vehicle (they don't publish a price for any of the trucks I was looking at) along with information on their current finance options. His response was that he would not be able to talk about such things via email or text. I've purchased my last three vehicles from other dealerships largely via email with no hassle. A dealership who won't correspond with a customer via anything but a voice phone call is probably shady and trying to avoid having anything in writing. A huge red flag, and something I won't be sucked into. More

My boyfriend drove the 3.5 hours there on Friday to meet with a salesperson and to get the paperwork going, then we both drove there on Saturday to finish the paperwork and drive home our new truck. We arrived there around 12.30 on Saturday and at 4:00 the deal was still not done. The salesman was pleasant enough, but his manager could not have been more rude. We ran into a small hiccup with the paperwork on my Chevy truck that I was trading in, and they offered no alternatives or solutions to get through a very minor issue. I am incredibly disappointed that we literally wasted our whole weekend here and got treated like s*** More
I usually don't do this but under the circumstances I figured I'd share. I told these guys I do not wanna drive all the way over there since I live out of state until we had a deal figured out. We came t figured I'd share. I told these guys I do not wanna drive all the way over there since I live out of state until we had a deal figured out. We came to terms and made a deal. When I got there the manager change the deal by 2000. Pretty crapy to put your trust in someone drive all the way down to have them smile and change the deal. He finally compromised and met in the middle but this is still horrible business I'd recommend going somewhere else for your vehicle purchase More

He was able to get me a great deal on a new set of tires and actually saved me money by letting me know a tire sensor I thought needed replaced, actually did not need replaced, even after ordering the part and having it ready to be installed. I started with a sales guy named Alan Melton who ended up sexually harassing me making me feel super uncomfortable and proceeded to yell at my fiance asking "if he was done talking because he wanted to talk to me". My fiance then jumped out of the moving truck and Alan kept driving with me in it to get me to a safe pull off and said he just wanted the best for me and the kids and get me the best vehicle. That was all xx we were there for 8 hours and saw 1 car! he was so pushy, rude, anxious and unprofessional. We ended up reporting him to Mo and then got set up with Houstan who we thought was a decent guy and basically threatened me in a text message. After purchasing the car they had a paper with I owe you's which they said would take a week to fix. Mind you I live about 2 plus hours away. They gave me a rental car and once the car was supposedly done they told me to meet him in spokane and we would switch cars. i show up with my two children both under 4 and there is no one to be found and no one has any idea why im there. So i call Houstan up and he says keys are at the front desk my car is here and leave my rental keys with someone there. i get my car and its completely empty and two out of three things they were supposed to fix in that week were not fixed. The major one being the windshield with a crack all the way down the driver side view. they ended up sending safelite to my house to fix that and my car was sent back to kellogg to fix the other issue not fixed. Again when the car was sent back after now dealing with Rick in GMC Service department they bring my car back and i mention why is the touch screen still not working and his reply was it was working when it left here! He told me when i asked can i bring it to dave smith here in spokane or do i have to go to idaho to get it fixed and he says to me don't go to spokane they don't know what they are doing they are nissan not gmc go to coure d lene. he also mentioned i have a great warranty and i can go to any GMC dealership in spokane as well. i mentioned i want it fixed and ill call cda dealership since they all are aware of whats going on. he told me to call him and let me know what i find out because hes curious on why it stopped working. this is absolute crap horrible customer service tells my fiance its out of his hands at this point and they are not putting anymore money into this car! Do not go to dave smith i warn you now. my brother has had nothing but problems and my cousin ever since we got our vehicles and they only care about a paycheck nothing else. i went to a restaurant down the street after i left the dealership in Kellogg and the girl also said she hears nothing but xxxx and they are awful not to deal with them. i have never written a bad review in my entire life! I feel so passionate on making sure everyone knows how inconsiderate, rude, scandalous and for such a big company and all they did was talk xxxx about all the other dave smiths they are affiliated with shows their character. DO NOT BUY FROM DAVE SMITH!!!! I will continue to say this and not one person out of 6-8 people i have dealt with have been pleasant at all. More
