I drove by and saw a beautiful maroon colored Acadia Limited that really caught my eye. I walked around the lot a bit, didn't get hounded by a salesman (can you tell, I don't like that??). After I checked out the car (that was nicely unlocked- so I could check it all out), I walked into the dealership. It was Saturday, and very busy. I wasn't greeted by anyone, walked around the showroom a bit and then went outside where I met Jared. I liked him from the minute I met him-again no pressure, just friendly and talkative. Quickly, he made me feel at ease. We went inside, he took some info and then we took a test drive. Jared wanted me to try out all the features of this car, he spent lots of time explaining all the bells and whistles. After a test drive, we went back to the dealership to let the real work begin. Honestly, we had a deal in less than an hour. I felt that I got a good deal, didn't feel pressured and felt really good about my purchase. Jared gave me some options, buy vs lease, explained everything very well and carried on a conversation that was comfortable and easy. I HIGHLY recommend him as a salesman! The only real downside of the process was the fact that it was Saturday and as I mentioned VERY BUSY-it took a while to get the final paperwork completed, too long really; but then I found out that one of the finance people had called in sick so they were working short-on a very busy SATURDAY. No worries though, once it was my turn, Andy took care of me quickly, efficiently and with a friendly and professional manner. He knows his job as he can carry on a conversation and keep clicking off all that paperwork! (phew, it's almost as much paperwork as a mortgage!) Jared is new to the dealership but not new to car sales-I think he is a great asset! I'm pleased that I was his first sale at Darlings in Ellsworth where I look forward to a long relationship! (for the record, my son recommended your location after a great experience in the sales department that ultimately caused him to purchase a truck there recently). Thanks again. Have also dealt with the Volvo team in Bangor and they do good job as well, especially Tim in service. I have now bought 3 cars from Mike Hill and just acquired a new Grand Cherokee which I love driving. Mike and Matt in Finance made the experience fun, easy and helped me with my trade in situation which was not an easy one. Mike and team there always go the extra mile in communication of details, sales process which is professional and relaxed as well as great follow up communication and availability. I appreciate the ease of the experience and the courteous customer driven attitude by the whole gang. there. More
The Service Department is Truly Excellent! I could have saved myself and vehicle a world of trouble had I known that Darling's service department in Ellsworth worked on cars of all varieties an I could have saved myself and vehicle a world of trouble had I known that Darling's service department in Ellsworth worked on cars of all varieties and ones that had not been purchased through their Auto Mall. My 2004 Land Rover Discovery has more than 200,000 miles on it and needs routine maintenance and also monitoring of issues such as rust that may get out of hand if not addressed. Not only are the service technicians knowledgable, especially Drew Gladu, who happens to know Land Rovers well, but they are honest about what work the car does and does not need. Drew has prioritized the list, beginning with a full-on brake line job, down to removing the rotting running boards, which makes the Landy look so much better. Other mechanics before Darling's told me that the running boards needed to be replaced, which would have cost in the thousands of dollars, and the parts would have had to be somehow resourced as the Disco running boards are no longer being made. Turns out they can simply be removed, and voila! They even fixed a sticky door that a half dozen other mechanics tried and failed to fix, and I didn't even have to order any parts. It's just such a relief and asset to have this level of service right in our city. They do a far better job and are much more pleasant than the Land Rover dealer that's a six hour round trip drive from my home! At Darling's, they will actually try to give you a lift home while your vehicle is being serviced, free of charge! More

I was hooked up with Alex Giosia as a salesman and he gave me some prices to shop around with. After 6 weeks of shopping I decided to buy from Alex. Other dealerships acted like the should just automatically get my sale, while Alex made sure to give me all the value of my trade in and match there price on the vehicle I bought. I have never been happier buying a vehicle then I was this time. I highly recommend this dealership. I give a big two thumbs up to Alex Giosia! Thanks again More

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly It may seem odd to be giving a five star rating when the ultimate result was so disappointing, but the staff at Darling's provided excellent service i It may seem odd to be giving a five star rating when the ultimate result was so disappointing, but the staff at Darling's provided excellent service in a sad situation. Let's face it: winter time on Maine roads is not kind to cars. The salt on the roads eats cars alive, and the potholes that develop can swallow a vehicle whole. My dear old Escape hybrid has been "rode hard and put up wet", getting me to my job in the ER in the worst of weather, hauling all manner of kayaks, luggage, furniture, and my string bass, and bouncing about on dirt roads, and even on occasion, entirely off road. When I took it to Darling's for routine maintenance and a few "minor" issues, I dropped the car off in the morning on my way to work. The staff checked in my vehicle immediately, with a zero wait time, and then quickly provided me with a ride to work. Soon after arriving at work, I got a call. They had noticed that, while the vehicle's registration was up to date, the inspection sticker was not. (My bad!) They gave me that unpleasant info, and made certain that I did indeed want to update the inspection. I did. They stayed in close touch, did the routine maintenance, solved the mystery of a leak that another shop had not been able to discover, and then called again to deliver the big blow: the car could not pass inspection without a monstrous amount of repair and body work. This message was delivered with all of the compassion of the diagnostician letting the patient know that he had a terminal illness. While the news was largely disappointing, the staff was friendly, cheerful, and professional. Fortunately, all communication was in English, so I did not have to try to decipher "mechanic speak". Since I was not going to get off of work until late at night, long after Darling's would have closed up for the day, and couldn't leave the ER, and since I had decided not to have the work done at this time, they delivered my car back to the hospital, gave me an estimate of the cost of the needed repairs, and brought the keys into the ER. Darling's made this terrifically convenient. This is my third interaction with Darling's Auto Mall. I have had a prior service visit, and have rented a very comfy and spacious vehicle in which to take a group of adults on a weekend road trip. I have been treated very well on all three occasions, and will be back. More
Really needed another Van We were in need of another van, as ours was nearing its last leg..Darlings was recommended to us from co-workers, Scott Parady our sales Consultant We were in need of another van, as ours was nearing its last leg..Darlings was recommended to us from co-workers, Scott Parady our sales Consultant was awesome! He made us feel like we were buying from one of our friends we'd known forever. Up front, honest, and genuine. Andy King was our finance person, again personable, and looking out for our best interest. he was able to secure us a great loan, with lower than expected interest rate, considering we're rebuilding our credit. We had to Travel over an hour to get there so it was close to closing time when we arrived. Scott and Andy stayed with us until 9:00 p.m. to make sure we left with a reliable van with safety in mind for our Children. Could not have asked for a better experience, they came through, and it is much appreciated! Tom Wheeler, General Manager made us feel welcome and appreciated. You guys are great, and thank you so much!!! More
